here it is guys. my new project Big grin

one of only 20 odd mi16s registered in the uk at this moment in time Smug

this turned out to be a far better car than i expected, when i went to view the car. it had been stood for 4 years outside. not a whiff of damp inside, and very straight bodywork.
i didn't test drive, but when the seller started the car, i couldn't believe how sweet the 16v sounded. i bought it with no brakes, and no steering.

3 days later, and the car was sitting on my driveway Smile

when i eventually got to work on the car, i checked all brakelines to see any visible leaks, which there weren't. so cracked all the nipples and bled system. perfect Big grin the car will have all new brakelines fitted as part of resto.
the cooling pipe for steering had rusted away, so i fitted a short length of hose to the power steering return and filled up the reservoir. all good Thumbs up

after giving the car a once over, i realised to do this resto properly, a lot of new parts were needed. you name it, it'll more than likely have it!

first major job. replace these fuel lines

with new fuel pipe from peugeot

few pics of underneath

i noticed a rusty area around where brake flexi mounts on passenger side. so decided to cut out rot and weld in new solid piece, and weld back on the bracket. i then primed and covered with seam sealer

a few pics after removing brakes, subframe, struts. steering rack etc

subframe, wishbones and arb, have been sent away for powdercoating Love

i decided while access was good, i would remove the gearbox and give it a quick clean

i've already got a new clutch kit bought, and a new clutch cable on order

i have cambelt and waterpump to change, and also give the engine a general service.

new engine mounts will be fitted, and hopefully i can get hold of a nissens rad

i have bought so many genuine new parts, that i can't wait to get them fitted. i have new bumpers, which are in the loft. door seals, full exhaust system, chrome inserts, lights etc

90% of my parts have been sourced abroad, and i have someone else hopefully sourcing me a full leather interior Yes

once the front end is back together, i will turn the car around, and get the fuel tank off and rear beam

all 5 wheels will get refurbed, and fitted with the correct size 195/55/15 tyres. thanks to graham for the decent set of tyres Thumbs up

will keep you all updated as progress continues

I've driven plenty of mi 205s, so this project I'm really looking forward to getting done.

So far, the hardest part to find was a new dipstick. Thankfully, a Peugeot dealer in Australia had one, and agreed to post it.

That'll be a very very late 1.9 in a pretty rare colour, Mine is the same colour on a L plate but a 2.0 so probably within a few months build date of yours!

Personally unless it has a-c I would keep the awesome Velour seats.

Top man mei. Thanks Thumbs up

To be fair, paintwork is very good, and should come up fantastically with a mop. I may get the roof and spoiler painted though, as they are the only places that have minor issues.

Tbh, I much prefer the velour seats to the leathers, they're much better shaped and imo look better too.

Really need to spend a few quid on the fourbie and get it rolling again.

I was so envious of this little gem when I picked up my rear beam, I just couldn't blurt out what he had! I am ashamed to admit that my mates 405 diesel hammered me through some country lanes in the wet in a VTR I had before, the independent rear suspension makes these handle amazingly. Once I get my hybrid ARB and need to lower my beam, I'm sure I'll see this in the flesh again

That would be the independent rear suspension of which a version resides on both the VTR and the 306 then Wink

So, basically, your mate just spanked you in a diesel 405 full stop LOL Thumbs up

I always thought that the 405 had individually sprung rear suspension or does my memory play tricks on me? I'm admitting here that my 98BHP bag of bolts got beaten round some wet country lanes by a boat powered by red diesel, damn that thing could shift! That may be why I've spent so much money on my 306, over compensating maybe Smile

I know what I said kev. But I had to save it. Thanks for offer of welder by the way. My brother lent me his ( not bad for Aldi special )

Won't be going mad on the underside, as it looks like it had been looked after in the past. I'd like to think the 82k miles on the clock are genuine miles Wink
