Just following on from my project thread for thought I would post up the costs

Zircotec® coatings are proven for application to a variety of materials providing a high performance ceramic thermal barrier coating, which improves the efficiency of exhausts and prevents local component and chassis damage from radiated heat.  In recent testing surface temperatures were reduced by ~33% for our Performance Range and ~25% for our Primary Range; both may be suitable for your needs but more details are shown on our website https://www.zircotec.com.
 
Our coatings are not paints but ceramics applied using a plasma spraying process which ensures an extremely well adhered, durable coating with an extremely hard and durable surface that is highly resistant to vibration, mechanical damage and thermal shock. The full process, which is suitable for both new and used exhaust systems, consists of: masking where the coating is not required, surface preparation, spraying of base coat and finally spraying of a ThermoHold® barrier coat. As we use plasma spraying process the coating is to the external surfaces only with no preparatory work required by you. 
 
The natural colour of our coating is white/cream, but many of our customers call for the very highest level of performance offered by Performance White™ but also require a coating with a finish that can be more easily maintained. To meet this need Zircotec has developed a range of high quality multi-coat colour finishes that are applied over the top of our standard plasma-sprayed ceramic. The full range of colours can be seen on the attached link (http://www.zircotec.com/page/-_performance_colours/47 ).   Our Primary range is only available in a matt black finish.
 
Regarding pricing; for a Peugeot GTi 6 manifold as shown in your picture, the cost to coat is £168 for Primary Black™; £239 for Performance White™ or £275 for any from our Performance Colours™ range.  Prices exclude shipping and VAT.  Turnaround time is approximately 10 working days with payment accepted via credit card or bank transfer.
 
We can arrange to have TNT pick up your parcel and send it back, once coated, for £25 plus VAT. (Applies to a single box under a metre in length weighing no more than 20kg picking up from and delivering back to a UK mainland address)

You can ask for 3 samples of colour choice that you have to pay for but if you do get work dine they take the price of your final bill

The primary black comes with a one year warranty for road use, nothing if tracked
Performance white has a 3 year road warranty or 1 year track and the same for the performance colours

Still £330 plus £25 delivery, I got a quote just over a year ago for £700 for the mani and heat sheils so I guess the price has come down a bit since then

Does this extra heat get passed down the exhaust then and what effect would it have on the rest of the system?

to prevent excessive heat loss into to the engine compartment and keep exhaust gas temperature high to promote expulsion, yes the heat will get passed on downstream of the manifold but "shouldn't" alter the strength of the exhaust system

    lol

    unless your have a 400bhp+ montser turbo i dont think any gti6 needs ceramic coating, or heat wrapping

    i use a pack of bangers to keep mine cool and i get to eat them after im done Smile

    Would you get the CAT done aswell or just the manifold, I imagine that a large amount of heat gets passed into the cat?

    Or decay then, that's still right up in the bay and passes the power steering (iirc) getting heat out of the bay totally would seem the ideal option or am I looking to far into it?

    It would be ideal to get it done as well but my system is one piece from manifold to back box so would cost a fortune lol

    Pretty sure they can only coat bare clean metal, so if it was a used system it would need to be completely free of carbon/oil build up inside and out. Something to think about for people considering getting it done, they might need to consider getting the parts acid dipped and chemically cleaned.

    I imagine (maybe incorrectly) that they have allowed for that in the price. They must receive a lot of correspondence from people looking to retrofit this to their cars. Even if it were new I imagine that they would dip it to ensure that they give you the best product they can (if they are guaranteeing it for two years especially)

    Definitely worth asking though

    It does say above its for new and used items, when I phoned them she didn't say anything about me needing to get it chemically cleaned etc

    Suzuki used ceramic coating in their R750 bike, phase 2 or 3 at the beginning of the 90's
    coating wasn't stable and cracked pieces sucked into engine causing fatal internal damage.

    procedure for ordinary mild steel ?

    It's not really to stop corrosion but more to keep the heat in and keep the engine bay cooler. That's how i have read it anyhow Yes
