So I bought a blaze. I rarely like blaze as a colour. Really rarely. Only when its super shiny in strong sunshine. Not great really when I tend to clean my cars may be three times a year.

Its Alistair's old car, 91k slight tap, -60mm front on gmax, -30 rear on standard, dirty big loud tooter + sport cat, the interior mostly thrown in the boot and lots of phase 3 bits and bobs. And metal monkey dials, which I also rarely like.

It is getting a minimum of stuff to bring it to an interesting spec but at minimal cost. The budget all told is under £300. I've bought it for £400 without tax or MOT and it needs to be road legal. Hmm...

What I am putting on:

eibach / bilstein B8/6 setup
standard exhaust and cat (to pass noise regs)
C5 wheels
Some other front pads (DS2500s probably)
Phase 2 headlights
A few metres of brake duct (already have this)
K&N 57i (already have this)
Phase 2 front seats
CG seatbelt lock - going to try it as i've heard good things
Cambelt
£580ish

What is going:

Cyclones
Gmax front struts
Phase 3 interior
Metal monkey dials if I can find clocks on similar mileage
Phase 3 headlights and fogs
Standard airbox
Sport cat and powerflow system
£650ish

Hope to swap the smoothed front end, but no worries if it doesn't happen
So I am currently going to miss my budget by a £30, MOT and tax Laugh my ass off

Thankfully I have 5x nearly new 406 tyres to sell, the TD1.2s and a set of new front B4s for the coupe. Man maths, got to love it Big grin

Current track action this year is limited as i'm not exactly rolling in money. Combe action day, just a couple of sessions and i've the Volvo day booked again in June. Long term involves track tyres, rear arb and a diff. Meantime it should be fun and significantly cheaper than making the 406 ready for a track. I want to keep that as a GT car Smile

A few changes to the menu have already happened. Its now having the KWv2s from Smegal's car, obtained some PE2s cheap so the T1Rs are going, keeping half the smoothed look and deleting the aircon.

Picked up the replacement seats, 2xPE2s from Ash and the C5 wheels from Dan on Monday. Finally got some time on it today, whilst helping on the 2.2 gearbox.

Extracted the smoothed grille (self tapper heaven). Started removing the airbox to swap for the 57i. Had the Pilot Exaltos stuck on the wheels, given the wrong bolts by Peugeot (normal) and changed the coolant temp sensor to no avail. Typical. (at least it starts still, just doesn't idle until warm)

Then in a strop changed the drivers seat and ripped out the front carpet, sound deadening, headunit, glovebox, random metal lump and taped up a load of floating wires. Looked at the head lining, pillar plastics, airbags and dash clocks but decided I couldn't quite be that arsed. Keeping the airbags until I have bucket seats and harnesses.

Was about to rip off the Powerflow system, airbox and front bumper when friend in garage decided to call time on it and went home. Hope to have it altogether in a couple of weeks, waiting on suspension, brakes and aircon delete kit. Magnex turned up today and looked luuurvleyyyy. Thanks Pugheaven Smile

Best news is that the 2.2 finally has a new clutch so I can get that advertised and hopefully sold. Its been eating too much money! Also think i've found a replacement original slam panel and P2 headlights via Rob_gti6.

Loads and loads of stuff now on ebay, cue the usual monkeys...Sad

Yeah I know... pictures will be happening soon. Been too busy putting things on ebay.

Cashback on everything - its all for sale!

The powerflow is sold, checked the cat (seems ok), god its blinking rusty this car - probably kept by the sea. Needs a bit of welding on the bottom chassis leg at some point soon and I think I will be doing a lot of de-rusting and painting. Engine bay looks ok, just underneath. Wheels are on (waiting for another 6 bolts), compensator is very unseized and i've yet to fit the magnex.

Anyway it has greeted me back to 306 ownership by dropping a cylinder. Spent half an hour looking into it, compt test was fine (20psi higher than my rallye - skimmed head) and a damp plug so going to change out a coilpack. Yay! Smile

Coilpack sorted the missing (thanks Rob_gti6), changed the plugs to new Peugeot as well whilst I was at it.

Bought a fire ring set for the exhaust + new clamps, going to attempt sorting it on thursday whilst my friend's ramp is free. Also hope to remove the airbox and front bumper whilst its up there - so much easier!

Otherwise been selling loads of stuff (arrgh packaging!) but also buying. Have a full set of 3mm R888 GG for £150, another two very worn for £35, the aircon delete setup turned up, hope to get coilovers and brakes this weekend. Other hopes of a bigger hybrid rear arb and a cheap original slam panel are currently on hold.

I also usefully removed the passenger seat and then put it back in again. For no real reason as it turned out. Hmm.

    Removed:

    Airbox (twatting thing)
    Various bits of the dash
    Various plastic trim pieces
    Ph3 tailgate spoiler
Some of the metal bracing under the bonnet, not much though as ran out of cutting discs
    Under bonnet hairy s**t
Door cards and the insanely sharp metal bits riveted on to hold them.
Part of the aircon system, lots more to come.

Fixed the seat airbag wiring so no airbag light on now (keeping them for now)
57i filter on - kept the standard pipe off the TB
    Bought 4x R888 with 3+mm of tread - 195 50 15, bought 2x R888 with bugger all tread
Carl Chamber's aircon delete kit turned up (cheers mate!)
Investigated the blower fan not working, just going to wire it on to a switch I think as the control panel is out.
    Drank tea.

Picking up KW v2s, brakes and slam panel from Mr Rat on the weekend. Have a fair bit of de-rusting and painting to do. Going to get the current plate on the drivers side chassis leg removed and a better one on, Also going to have a goods look over the front end when the slam panel is off - wasn't looking that great by the airbox, rusty but still solid. Cambelt + MOT week after next.

Had a very good quote from Sky Insurance for it, but i'm just going to go day insure - its probably only going to be out for 10 days this year altogether.

    Still no new parts...ahem...
Anyways done the following this week:

figured out the heater not working issue (melted relay)
got the missing C5 wheel bolts from Peugeot (ouch!)
fitted the new fire ring kit, installed the magnex system on to the sport cat downpipe - sounds lush!
attacked the compensator again with clouter and white grease

ripped apart the front end, bumper off, slam panel off (bloody heavy aftermarket thing) to see if there was any major rust under there. Not too bad, but did confirm my suspiscions about the front end and repainted nile bumper

Anyway truck on, PAS works so there we go - its not out of alignment obviously. Will make a mental note to clout the other side given a choice.

So removed the bumper grill, fogs and the under plastic (twatting my head in the process). Chopped out the middle 3 foot of bumper plastic and fixed it back into the bumper which is now missing a lot of paint. Will sand it and rattle can it back to something near blaze when I have time.

Waiting on a proper slam panel from Ash before it goes back together. Hope to get the cambelt and aircon delete done next week. Depends on the weather now Sad

Blimey - cracking on fast Adam! All the things I wish I had time to do!

Needless to say I am already sick of driving the Mrs Beetle, it is god awful! Thinking about the Mazda MPS in the next couple of months, need some power back in my life.

Looking forward to seeing this progress, keep up the good (and apparently painful) work.

Yeah bad day for hurting myself yesterday.
I feel your pain on the beetle, but beware of driving fast cars with not much feel - you'll only want another small french hatch again.

It is slowly getting there. It won't be anywhere near what i'd like but I don't have 4k to throw at it. Cage, diff, cams and TBs cost money! It'll be fun and pretty quick and cheap. Ideal Smile

Quite a lot of the car looks like that tbh, sure it was kept by the sea! Will be a lot less rust in it soon.

    Looking good though, big progress!

Not got long before it needs to be done tbh. I want a bit of driving done before I take it on track. Need to learn it a bit - been a long time since i've had such a short wheelbase!

Good work, making a lot of progress. My PS pipe looked a bit like that but bent in a different way. Took ages to get it off, some of the bracket bits are NLA now so I had to salvage some of it.

Yeah I did. Shame its so bloody heavy as it doesn't retract in the 406, however it does make a huge difference in that car. The leather seats are super shiny and have zero support.

Downside was I came properly twatting up behind a police car when trying it out. Got a finger wag thankfully...

    Small update:

Finally picked up a load of stuff from Ash yesterday, now have everything that is going on it in phase 1. Had a couple of hours on it this afternoon, only managed to do one front corner strut, new drop link and brakes. Got caught out by the 16/18mm offside trap and had to wait 45 minutes for new balljoints to turn up. Its about 15mm higher now on that side, will be completed thursday.

Finally will get the cambelt on next week, delete the aircon, get it MOT'd and on the road. Had a mega cheap quote from Greenlight Big grin
