    As said before, the induction noise on a standard air-box setup is spot-on, as is the feeling you get when nailing it through the gears from 3rd onwards.
    I can leave it in the pub car park over-night and not worry too much about some c*nt putting a window through or keying it.
    They are relatively simple to work on (my g/f's mk4 polo is a nightmare in comparison!)
    They also look fantastic still compared to today's dull germanic boxes.

    To me it is a great drive at any price (although mine's a Rallye). And it is great value when people are paying up to £10K for a 30-year-old Ford Escort.

    New cars are much better built though, especially the interiors, but they are also heavier and uglier with massive funny-shaped headlights that look like a cat's face with a vet's finger up its backside. The 306 on the other hand is still a nice-looking car.

    I have to admit. I constantly look back at my car parked up, even when its on the drive especially after its weekly clean. Love Maybe I shouldn't admit it but I think there's a type of car love going around with the good example GTi6 and Rallye'sYes

    Fact is if I got pretty much any other car I'd get bored. Even if I spent £10k+ it's likely to get boring. Never yet have I got bored of the 6 and it doesn't look like I'm going to anytime soon.

    Just another note, all the bo***cks about them not being reliable...I dont know about others, but my 1st 6 had little problems (one major one but it was a tapper). And my 2nd 6 (current one) touch wood is extreamly reliableThumbs up

    Nope. I looked after mine and it still shat its head gasket. 135k isn't that many miles, certainly a lot less than our current pair.

    No jealousy here. Trust me on that. Nothing stopping me owning another 306 beyond I don't want to and think my v70 is a better all round car.

    I expect that you didn't put every single one of those 135 thousand miles onto the car, you have no idea how the miles you didn't do were covered. If you find an example of a 6 which has been cared for since day 1, I'm sure there would be a lot less issues in terms of reliability.

    I've only put ~20ish k onto my 6, I have no idea how the other 90k were covered but I haven't had that many issues apart from silly things.

    I used to think the same until I got the Lotus. The pug was numb in comparison! It took me two weeks to sell my pug and so didn't drive it for 2 weeks but had obviously been driving the Lotus. On the day she went I took her for a drive to make sure everything was OK. my thoughts were;

    The steering felt lifeless in comparison.
    It seemed to roll a lot more.
    It seemed quite gutless. You couldn't even say 1st to the top end of third was quick either.
    And it didn't sound as nice partlybecause it wouldn't rev to 8.5K rpmLOL
