Hope you drive quicker than you did when we were at Donny last year I have found a cheap sprint series to enter, its very new and not sure how it will turn out, but it is cheap so hoping to get to a few events to give it a try. And yes, rear suspension is being rebuilt as we speak, so when its sorted I can drive the car properly (may not be as much as a mental case as you though) tvrfan007 wrote: Didn't know you'd entered a sprint series! And yeah, dont need to have FIA in date stuff etc. Its open circuit and airfields etc, and as its sprint racing, only one car out at a time and not "racing" so regs are much less restrictive. Here you go ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Heard about it from a mate so thought would give it a try. Worth a punt as each event is like £80. Worth a shot I guess, but my hopes arent high ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

When he rolled and crushed in the car that didn't require a cage, and then was hit in the face by a hand-held fire extinguisher before bursting into flames, unfortunately no-one could stop it as a fuel cut-off wasn't required, luckily his exhaust exited behind the bulkhead, that's a weird one.________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Road legal tyres only, but semi-slicks aren't allowed?Who the f**k decides that one? The whole point of semi-slicks, is they're road legal....dumbasses. And the 400bhp limit, how are they policing that then - taking the owners word for it? Making everyone rolling road their car at every event and picking up the tab? Arguing it in court when the winner pegs 420bhp and blames it on inaccurate rollers, or the conditions on the day... What about weight limits? I can have 400bhp, fine, what if I put it in 400kg of kit car on some road-legal super-sticky autograss remoulds that only last 5 miles? Flicking through the forums doesn't fill me with much more hope either, it seems to have been organised without actually sitting down and thinking it out first....you'd be better just going to a properly organised MSA-sanctioned sprint tbfh! ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. They'll say 'no semi-slicks' - but given they can't decide on a definition of semi-slick without just going, 'They're too expensive for me bruv', hmmm.Sounds like they're trying to find the cheapest, nastiest supplier for remoulds they can as a control tyre. That'll be fun. Just what I'd want to run on my pride and joy.... And given all the carcasses will be different on a cheap and simple re-tread, how the hell can that be considered a control tyre. Most of the existing sprint series are only around the £100 mark, I'd spend the extra and let these guys have a few seasons finding their feet first. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. I completely agree with all points made I have joined it though mainly as my friend is going to join it too, and would be a good way to compete against each other. The rules are shocking though, and most dont make sense, but, on the plus side my car actually fits into the regs (which has been an issue with other series). ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

What do you get for your £80 at an event?A local car club does a 'sprint series/autotest' - which is actually an old airfield hired for the day for a couple of hundred quid, and 20 odd competitors arrive and do several timed runs of a predetermined course. That started off very much the same, but was set out in to drivetrain and power groups with winners in each to keep it realistic and competitive. Although it was not £80, only £20 odd quid to do the day. Now I think there's 2 FWD cars and 20 odd RWD E36 BMW's who shall we say, aren't overly bothered about the time they take or which direction they sweep the If yours is a day with a high number of entrants but poorly organised - doing a small coned off circuit on the stopwatch only several times between lining up, you'd be better off increasing the amount slightly and doing a proper trackday. ________________________________________ |
