Thanks Marcellus Thumbs up

The quickshift is awesome! Together with the Miles gear linkages and GE quickshift, the throw is proper short. I love it Hyper

Sneaky test video on a farm road..

Was going easy on the throttle and gear changes (due to new gearshift fitted) so it can be a bit quicker Smile

It take it the video stops when you lost control of the car and veered into a tree?

"Farm road" Hmm

Sounds pretty nifty.

Stops when I press the button as I start to slow the car down. It's a farm road, not a proper road Wink

Bit of a tarty addition to the car... Decided to buy the numberplate off Tom's (binka) turbo'd 306 Cool

Few pictures to show it off (car needs a bloody good clean though)

What do people think? I think its a bit tarty, and my mate thinks its turned my car even more into a "chav" car, whatever Roll eyes

In true french car style, she decided to not start this morning Sad

Dry day, so thought I would use the car for work. Turns over and starts but wont hold the revs and dies.

I will check it out later as didnt have time this morning, but it makes a bit of a clunk noise when it cuts out. I really don't like the sound of it Cry

I will have a look tonight and see how I get on. It may just work as normal when I get to it later Laugh

Have seen no issues prior to this though. The idle has been perfect since I sorted my boost leak.

Right, been out and had a quick look. I'm no mechanic, but I cant see any obvious issues.

The car was fine all day saturday when I was using it and now it wont idle at all. If I start the car and hold the throttle, its fine. If I let go, it dies straight away.

So my options are ICV or MAP sensor I guess?

Does the SC setup still use the MAP sensor? Dunno

And is it possible for the sensors to just give up like that?

Mine decided to do that a few months ago, try holding the throttle open for a couple of minutes and then see if it idles once warmed up.

Wierdly mine sort of fixed itself but I took the whole tb off and cleaned everything out for the sake of it. Touch wood not had a problem since.

Gave the car a bit of a clean at the weekend as the weather was nice on saturday. Decided to do it well so its kinda prepared for the winter cold.

Not too many pictures I'm afraid, and need to get some of the finished product (plus buy a camera). By the time we were finishing, it was starting to get cold, and condensation forming on roof and bonnet, which was a pain.

Car was washed, dried, clayed, buffed, polished then waxed. (The wax was something my mate had, some Autoglym finish stuff. Was a watery liquid that dired a bit like polish)

A couple of photos. Most are in between stages...
(Please note, the guy in the orange trousers is my helper monkey, not me Laugh)

This is one of the kinda finished ones (still need to back to black, and tyre dress)

And some from the next day, although it had gathered some rain/dew (bit of beading on the go)

Cool

Not much going on with this at the minute as its winter so there is no motivation to go out in the cold to do anthing, and I'm pretty skint, so no money for new shiny bits Laugh

One little job that I did over the weekend is something that has been a slight concern for a while. The heatshield that sits on the bulkhead over the exhaust manifold is getting pretty tatty. I think its massively stupid and ironic that this *heatshield* can catch fire so been looking to replace it.

I saw the group buy thread for an alloy one, and you can get them from pug, but being a bit skint, there has to be a cheaper way to do it.

Bodge FTW Yes (I do think I have taken too much inspiration from Owain's "Track cars for Dummies" thread) Laugh

I bought a heatshield off here that seemed to be in better nick than mine. I then also bought some heat reflective foil tape that can cope with 1000oC, so hope that should be ok. (Cue the massive fail on my part that it needs to withstand higher than that)

I thought the main problem with the heatsheild is it goes tatty round the edges and the fibres get exposed and singe/burn. So I thought using the tape, cover the edges to stop it happening Wizard

Here is what I started with..

A couple during (sorry for bad light/pictures)

....and a few to show finished item

Hopefully will be spot on, and a cheaper alternative to buying a new one Yes
