I wanted to buy a second hand one and do what you have done, however i wanted to cover the whole thing in the gold tape. Looks good though! Easy enough to refit with the engine in situe?________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

I thought about covering the whole thing, but think I would need another roll of tape, and would only be for cosmetic reasons Gold though, very bling. Mclaren F1 styleee Err, not sure how easy to fit with engine in place, probably a mission. Not done it yet. ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Got some time off next week so there needs to be an update on the car I think. Plans are as follows (lets see how many I actually do, probably not a lot )- Fit tidied up bulkhead heatshield - Apply cool tape/foil to the exhaust tunnel where the heatshield has been removed - Remove remaining bits of aircon pipe that go along bulkhead behind engine and bung up holes - Find something to replace the crappy grub screws on my quickshift, or nyloc them in place? - Fit foot rest (I miss not having it, so bought an alloy one) - Get my newly bought Toyo T1R's on the set of cylcones I have. May tidy them up, get them sprayed - Buy and fit a boost gauge. - Try and find some things I can remove. I know there is more behind the dash, but can I be arsed to take the dash off? I heard there is some more of that tar sound deadening shit under scuttle panel, so might get rid of that. That's about it I think until I get some pennies for lightweight battery and relocation kit etc. Pics of foot rest ..and a random pic from a while ago thats my desktop background at work. Just as I quite like it ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

I will do mate, but I aim to go up in the summer Also, let me know about the cage, I want a decent cage and looking at the thread, you want the same spec/bars as me. I need to get saving lots of pennies for that. Wonder if Phil will take a credit card ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

I'm not sure if you can refit the hetshield without bending pushing pulling and slightly damaging it. I would remove the top mount and try to pull the engine as far forward as you can for this mate. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

Few little bits done today..Started cleaning up the cylcones so I can put my shitty weather wheels on. Quite quickly I got bored and cold doing this, so decided to go out for a drive Then ended up going over a mates unit to try and roll my arches to stop it catching the tyre on bumpy roads. My mates are mechanics etc so they end up just taking over and doing things.. So I was left making the brews Got a bit carried away on the other side so now one side is slightly flared out, and the other isnt Ahh well, its a weekend toy/track toy and it isnt exactly mint One to test that it was no longer catching, my mates sat in the back and jumped about.. Some like jimmy may like this.. ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Just had the car weighed and is now down to 1040kg, my aim is 250bhp/ton so I think its going to be close. Need to get it rolling roaded and see where we are at Had a quarter of a tank of fuel in. Also had a little drive out in the car on some empty roads ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Right then, few things to discuss...Back to my issue a while back where it wouldnt idle at all, replaced ICV with one I had that was slightly faulty with not returning to 1krpm properly, but it did make the car work. Bought a new ICV (under 1000 miles old from Andy) and same issue. It idles PERFECT when the engine isnt up to temp, and will do at temp. But when up to temp on a drive, if you are to say press the clutch at 4krpm, it drops to 2 and kinda fluctuates a bit there. Not a major issue, but still quite annoying. MAP sensor is the next one to change so hope that works Any ideas on that subject, will be greatly appreciated Did decide to do some sound testing prior to booking some trackdays. I have the following info to cover me for different circuits. As the SC boys will know, the exhaust can be very quiet on part throttle, but that all massively changes on WOT So here is what I got: Idle: 77 DBa 4500: 87.2 DBa (gentle acceleration) 4500: 90.4 DBa (harder acceleration with opening up throttle more, peaked at 100.2 DBa) 5250: 98.2 DBa Hopefully should be all good for most UK tracks ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Last weekend swapped to the cyclones so I dont have to run round on R888's and end up breaking traction when it starts getting wet etc I decided to borrow a torque wrench off a friend as I remember getting p*ssed off using that shitty + type wheel brace. (The standard wheel brace is useless too and bent last time I used it) At the time, I was unsure whether the bolts were 17mm or 19mm, I was pretty sure they were 19, but he couldnt find that socket bit. I have a socket set myself of course, but all 3/8, not 1/2 inch. So, back home jacked the car up, and oh yes, they are 19mm. Borrowed another socket bit, right then lets get this done. After the first bolt, this happens... Shitty quality socket bits, back to square one then with that brace After a bit of hassle, managed to get them all swapped over, looks strange being back on cylcones. Especially the arch gap etc. Going from 16" wheels with 50 profile tyres, to 15" wheels with the same profile ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Few bits and bobs done today, but still plenty more that need doing As I still have an idle issue after a new ICV, it makes sense to get a new MAP sensor too. As I was unsure which type I had, meant pulling a few bits off to get to it. It was so easy on a standard car, open bonnet and its just sat there on top of inlet manifold, nice and easy. Not any more.. All that stops the rotrex unleashing hell That done, the next thing was to sort out them stupid collars on the quickshift. Thought it was the one underneath as was rattling against the exhaust, no, just me being a dick. Was the top one, allowing the gearstick to drop, so the gear selector rod was resting on the exhaust. Done up grub screws and jobs a gudden. Jacked the car up so I could check the bottom collar was still tight, and while I was there, fitted my new lightweight heat shield (That same heat/foil tape again) A few of the car in quite a normal Peugeot stance Next couple of jobs I want to do is remove the brackets for the back seats, so bought a spot weld drill bit. May do that one night this week. Oh and I had a look how easy/hard it would be to remove the bulkhead heatshield, and I've decided that can wait til next weekend when my ratchet spanners will of turned up ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

there's a tool for it, pretty simple, and you inflate to whatever pressure your running and listen for the leaks, as the engines not running you can hear it pretty easily, look on u tube there's some good videos showing how it's done. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |
