It has gone to another welder I have been recommended, so fingers crossed If that fails, I will be sending it to Jim or Phil, or finding a different flange. I will get there eventually! ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Right then, the downpipe is sorted, well I say sorted, it has been welded I asked the guy to just weld however, as long as it doesnt snap again, and it doesnt blow, then I will be happy. Needless to say, that is what he has done. Not the best looking welding I have seen, but if it does the job, then all is good Hoping to get the exhaust back on saturday so expect an update of something going wrong ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Sssh you I know f*ck all about about welding (as you have probably guessed) but it seems strong enough. Will whack it back on the car and see how it goes. If it dies, then I will get a new downpipe made ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Will maybe put a picture up later on, but I'm trying to move back into a project thread, rather than a "look at the amounts of fail with this exhaust" thread But I am pretty much sure it would make Jim and yourself fall off your chair laughing. ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Few more tinkering bits...Decided to change the centre console area so I can fit me a nice boost gauge. So away with the original bit, and in with some carbon fibre Centre console + hacksaw = And some carbon. I am probably going to re do this though as I cut it with said hacksaw shiny side up. So there are a few f*ckups round the edge where it splinters. oops Need to get a hole cut for the boost gauge and for the hazard switch, but its getting there ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

Update, it lives again (until it decides to break again/exhaust fall apart) Today I stole my mates decent jack and took on the mission of refitting my exhaust and quickshift. The quickshift I bought from Hovis ages ago but forgot to fit it last time the exhaust was off. So first up was to remove the heatshields. This was a slightly irritating task in that they are all rusted, so one turn of the ratchet and they snap off, leaving them stuck in the socket bit So that was fun. After breaking all of them, I was left with the 2 that attach it as it disappears up the bulkhead. Now I don't know if any of you have done this, but they are a bit of a c*nt to get to so had to use a spanner. Note to self, but some f*cking ratcheting spanners! Those 2 are obviously not corroded and break off, as that would be too easy. After removing them, it still doesnt just fall out, so after a minute of attacking/pulling on it, it came free. Managed to take the gearknob off without punching myself in the face, which was a bonus, but was quickly outweighed by the fact I dont have a deep 10mm socket. Trusty spanner to remove the nuts that hold it on at the top. After a bit of fettling and stealing some different bolts from a mate, we ended up with this. ***Didnt really realise the time, so I will update this tomorrow.*** Pub time Will leave you with some pictures of the newly hacked up bumper, and exhaust fitted ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |
