Cheers for the offer tho Jim, but yeah I'm not far from Leicester.

There is a decent welding place that my work uses so I'm going to pop in there and get them to do it. They did a spot on job of my exhaust last time.

Engine mounts are standard up top as far as I know and the lower one is a Powerflex.

I've needed a new rear bumper for a while so I'm not fussed with the melting/having to cut it up Laugh

Unlucky on the snapped weld but lol at your bumper. I thought the bolts were spring loaded to allow movement? Did you refit them correctly?

So, exhaust is at the welders, picking it up tomorrow. Also picking up an exhaust fitting kit after work. Looks to be in good condition (been on car about a year) but may as well change it as I'm there.

Need to get it all sorted as booking myself on an airfield trackday on Sunday. Get some proper enjoyment out of it, boost Superman

Right, went to collect the exhaust and more bad news. They have struggled to weld it due to the flange being a completely different metal and has lots of iron in it? So they think it will come apart again so I'm not bothering to fit it Angry

Is it possible to get a stainless steel flange? Then the welding will be easy and sorted?

Shite welders!

Never seen any flanges available separately, o.e ones are all pressed steel or cast steel, or SS aftermarket.

So unless that was made from an o.e flange and has a SS pipe welded to it, can;t see why they'd have any issues, even if it is dissimilar steels just whack the welder up and lay more weld LOL

Beware, the following post has a certain "Owain" feel about it...

I decided to "modify" the exhaust cut out in the bumper. I use the word modify loosely as what I mean is, I just pulled the bits of melted plastic off and jobs a gudden Laugh

Jesus, wtf happened there?! My dad let me have a go on an arc welder as a kid and I'm pretty sure it looked better than that.

Now *that's* the shit, get involved with some tools and just make it work!

EDIT: I like how my name has basically become a byword for bad workmanship, that's nice

No f*cking idea mate Laugh my ass off

It's strange as they did some work on my old exhaust and it was spot on. Welding was very well done and never had a problem with it.

Maybe they have changed welders? Due to the recession they now employ monkeys? Dunno

Looking that way mate, what metal should I get?

What I don't get is if it's having trouble being welded due to dissimilar metals, why did they use that type in the first place? Dunno
