Stick on an extra earth on the gear box to chassis as i had this problem, and since doing that its been fine, does your speedeo and rev counter just drop off then comes back? ________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

The speedo on the dash is wired directly to the vss. There is only 3 wires, a 12v live, an earth and a 'switch' live which is the wire that goes to the dash. It does also split and go to the ecu but don't worry about that, doesn't affect the dash.Get a multimeter and test you have a good 12v supply, then test the earth. If they are ok its likely to be the vss, the wire to the dash or the dash itself. To test the vss you really need an oscilloscope. The wire goes into the blue plug I think on the back of the dash so you can test continuity of the wire there. Dunno how you'd test the dash though. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

it was fine until the dash was changed to my led metal monkey one. Yep, as said it's likely to either be the VSS itself or the lack of an Earth connection. ![]() You shouldn't need to add extra Earth cables really, just ensure the current ones are present and the connection points are clean and tight. ![]() ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

Would the VSS be the cause for my speedo to zip straight to almost max speed just after start up, it goes back down after a mo ?________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug. why would VSS matter for mot? ![]() and you can get them for about £10 from a motor factors rikky wrote: I have another here actually as I never fitted mine to the HDI. it's a MEYLE one and their part no is 40-148990000 and is for oem part no 616070 from another thread ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

I suppose the only way would be to run the vehicle in the brake rollers and ensure that the speed starts to raise. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

wasn't aware of that as it'd involve mot testers driving the car.. we only run cars stationary for emissions / testing exhaust and brake testing but that's it ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Perhaps when they jack the car up on the subframe to give things a shake and a wiggle they will run the car in the air to see if it moves? Or look down at the dash when they drive the car on to the ramp. ________________________________________ ![]() |
