Where is everyone getting their Xantia V6 discs from for the 406 V6 brembo conversion and what size?

I bought a set of Xantia V6 disks from buypartsby.co.uk - they are 283MM. Unfortunately they dont fit properly and are heavily offset to the right hand side of the caliper (see pic)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You want the 288mm Xantia V6 discs, I made the same cockup when ordering Daveyboy's discs

I've got a spare pair of high-quality ductile iron ones though, 'cause I ordered a couple spare, they're blanks but only need the surface grinding parallel to finish them - I can have that done if you want 'em.

Is this different for the Saxo VTS or the same? Im trying to get discs that fit and dont squeal.

Take a quick read of this thread.

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97318

I ordered the ones from the first post in that thread but they are not right. The ones suggested in the first post of that thread are apparantly what was suggested for use on here and they were 283MM.

Thanks again for any help. I know this is a 306 forum but i imagine they are similar and lots of people may have had experience with this over here.

Backing shims on the pads, lightly grooved/2 piece/wavy discs, chamfer pads, damped sliders...

Backing shims as in the anti-squeal shims you can buy?

damped sliders? What exactly do you mean by this?

Thanks

Yes, anti-squeal shims, damping the sliders involves coating the sliding areas the pads run on with a special compound, probably a bit beyond most people tbh LOL

I might just put it on then leave the pads in the oven for a few hours, then it will definately be heated enough Big grin LOL

Might work actually, give the stuff more time to diffuse into the pads.

My AP's squeal when running normally, they stop squealing when braking hard though, annoying as braking hard would result in the passenger banging their head and the car being shunted up the rear Doh

I have the 406 Brembos on my 306, I have done all things under the sun to stop them making noise. Just get Renault Brembos with ashs 310 kit. For the xantia discs you need to get some metal skimed from the lugs on the calipers to make it sit centrel but they still squeel!!!! and your left with some calipers that are not any use to anyone.

can always shim them back up or take some material off the inside of the brake bell.

I was more thinking of selling them to a 406 owner but yes to the disk bells, one down point to the bell idea your playing with the offset and the disc might not have that much metal, you might make the bells to thin.

nope, there's enough metal there to take what you need off, its what Hilgie the Dutchman did for his 205 V6, the 205 hubs are the same offset as a 306 Wink
