I suggest you use a set of 283x26 discs from a gti-6 or a 307 Hdi, they are centered with the calipers and won't squeal as much as the Xantia 288x28 ones which have the wrong ofset

Not sure but iirc if using standard discs the pistons can reach maximum travel and maybe pop out if your pads are low. Think the 406 brembos require 28mm width discs as min. Not 100% sure

you will never get rid of the noise unless you go to 330mm bell and rotors!
I couldnt stand the noise so i sold my set and got ash's 310mm kit with 225 brembos.
no noise and much better calipers.

don't have to have 330mm, could go for a stock diameter 305mm belled disc and rotor.

There is no noise free solution that i know of. i used to run them with a 307 110 Hdi disk. They are better then the 6 brakes but not much better.

If it is I'm not sure it'd sort it out anyway, They still squeal on the 406's and the Fiat Coupe's they were fitted to as standard.

im still trying to figure out what discs we can use for the brembos other than the xantia ones

gti6 discs sit offset,

gti 180 discs fit ok?

406 coupe discs wrong offset?

xsara hdi estate 2001 , Seem ideal? 283x26

307 lx 283x23 usable?

what other cars discs are an option? the xantias are OVERLY heavy.

why cant the 406 coupe discs be used?

The late Xsara disc could be a good option. Someone else has mentioned them on here before and yes the Xantia ones do seem pretty heavy, however not a million miles off the normal GTi6 discs.

Was going to weigh everything when I changed over.

following this with a little interest, I'm still on 266x20.5mm LOL

my discs apparently weigh 4.7 kg,
the gti6 283 x 22mm disc is 5.95kg,
the C5 discs commonly used is the same as the Late Xsara discs, 6.74kg.

283 x 26, 34mm height.

one thing I can't remember about the 405/6 hub is whether the radius of the lugs are the same as the other cars (106/205/206/309/306/307)

what I do know is that the offset to the hub is a lot lower hence why its not possible to use the discs on a 306 (and why BBS made the special Coupe wheels) a 406 V6 disc is;

305 x 28mm, 28mm height, 7.9 KG Crazy

if the caliper sits at the same radius, a 307 2.0 HDI 135 disc looks to be exactly the right spec to fit;

302 x 26 - 34.1mm height (same height as the C5 discs, but a lot larger diameter, this may help against squeal.)

they weigh 8.42 kg though Shock
