the S16 PAS bracket wont fit with the gti6 sump, dont know if the pump will fit, quite likely it'll bolt on but the pipe might be a different angle, heard you can persuade that round though.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Yeah, get a pair of good sized vice-grips at the base of the pipe and you can rotate it round. Best to do it once and once only though as it gets looser every time you turn it. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Well my block, crank, pistons and rods went off to the machinists this morning to get sorted. Looking forward to getting it all built back up. I'm now in two minds as to the benefit vs cost of having the valves enlarged by 1mm and having the throats bored out to take advantage of the bigger valve area. Going to have all my parts back in time for the weekend, or so I'm told, so now I'm looking forward to spending the weekend carefully building my new bottom end. Still saving for the head work, but I think it will be worth the extra cash. Not much chance of completion before Christmas at this rate, but we'll see. Missing trackdays is killing me now, especially after reading all the posts about the last meet at Snetterton, more motivation is not going to be neccessary ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I personally wouldn't bother with bigger valves having seen how far they can go on standard sizes.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Having had a Head to this spec I wasn;t that pleased with the result really for the money I would go somewhere else now, 185 bhp with bodies and std cam's and std everything else. The valve seat's get machined and the chamber's get very little work, I was expecting a little more ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

I would personally leave it, the gains for the money aren't all that, if you were competing and every last BHP was needed, then perhaps.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. even then, if Sandy can take a 2.2 to 280 bhp on stock Valves and says there's more to come, how much power do you really want ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

I had a bit of free time on my hands (steady!) so I thought I'd play with my head! I know I'll have to do some of this again if I go down the big valve route, but just in case I don't I ported the head, got rid of all the casting marks, rough edges and smoothed the inlets as best as I could manage, no real stock removal as by all accounts the ports are more than big enough, so just some gentle fettling is all thats required really. Something very theraputic making about nice shiny ports... ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Not yet, I'm leaving the exhaust guides alone for the time bieng sa I may re-use them, I just ground off the small ammount they protrude into the port as it wont affect the length of the guide much. I want bulletised inlet guides though so I'm looking into that at the moment. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Leading up to this I have had to content myself with reading up on what to do when I get my block back, interesting reading, and I'm left with probably more questions than answers, but hopefully it should help me avoid some of the more obvious mistakes...Anyway Saturday finally arrived and it was off to collect my block and crank from the machinists all dad's plans of getting me to do some real work today went straight out the window as all I wanted to do was get started re-building my engine First thing was to clean the old rust off the block in readiness for some painting later, colour choice WILL divide opinion... This was followed by the application of a little rust killer. Next I decided to check my ring gaps, this took some time to get right as some needed quite a bit of work to achieve the necessary gap, but I'm happy with them all now and have matched them all to their individual cylinders after filing the ends for a perfect fit. After that it was time to install the main bearings and check that they had the propper crush height, as I really don't want to spin another one. I have to say I was pleased to find that they are all spot on, but at least I know for sure, thats one less thing to worry about on the next trackday! By this time dad was getting very annoyed so had to pack it in and get some tidying up done in the shop, here's his happy face... And after a day playing with engines, here's mine (Not my best picture, but I haven't got a lot to work with...) All bagged up ready for round two... Just need money for cams, valves, springs, mapping....... Next is to check fit the crankshaft, check for runout with a dial guage, then fit all of the mains one at a time and check to see if I have the propper clearance and no binding. Once that is out of the way, assuming the crank is good, I can fit all the conrods and rotate them to make sure they have the clearance needed too.
