Good to see its coming on. Decided what cams and spec you are going for yet?

Yeah, the cams were development cams mde by Piper, I don't have the exact spec but they are 297 degree and 12.9mm max lift. They made 230 hp in an engine on twin 45 carbs built for national hotrod racing. Hopefully I can achieve the same/more if I let the guy have my head to work on. Smile

No need for a remap then, if you're going for Piper Cams Whistle

after talking to Jim last night he saying he cant be bothered to do the work his self so its going on a trailer to Pug performance

I'd rather eat a marathon runners feet Razz

Got all the front end bits and pieces off the car yesterday, block is now out, head is stripped down, all valves, springs and guides removed ready for some porting.

Thanks Chris and Rich for lending a hand.

If I get time I'll have a hunt for a lighter one or make something. We'll see how it goes.

they aren't aluminium but there is considerably less material so will be a shitload lighter LOL then again the gti6 pas pump mounts higher than the s16 one. i forget how mine was as i dropped it from a great height into a skip and posted my engine mount to ash. same with the pas pump

welshpug is your man for knowing how it would work in terms of swapping it onto a gti6 block Unsure

same block, fits fine, its what I have supporting my gti6 engine in the ZX.

only issue is that the PAS/Alternator bracket overhangs the edge of the sump, so necessitates either fitment of a steel sump or cutting the A/C lugs off the Alloy sump.

I chose to do the former seeing as I had the steel sump to hand (and couldn't be arsed cutting my gti6 sump up) the steel sump is lighter too, though obviously doesn't have the extra bolts to the transmission, don't think it matters much about that though.

Did these steel sumps come as standard on any Gti6 or is it off a lesser model?

so if you fit the s16 mount (two parts, ones the top mount and the second which relocates the pas down the bottom) so you save alot of money on rich w relocation kit. Unlucky davey boy looks like you wont need richs kit anymore if you fit the s16 mounts.

All those lightweight parts and it's still slower than a Rallye as standard Razz

not since the J4R was produced, they all had the same massive bracket and an alloy sump regardless.

they were on the S16 with a baffle much like the gti6 factory one, the MI16, most XU10 8 valvers, though may not have the baffle in place, that can be retrofitted, I think the steel sumps off the diesel engines are the same, again most likely not to have the baffle in them.

Do you have to change the sump or is it just to be on the safe side. Are the s16 and gti6 pas pumps the same? Iv got the alloy pump and s16 setup but cant remember if the sump was modified. I dont have a/c so take it i wouldnt of had the lugs?
