What do you think has caused the engine to go bang on you just like that ? surely rebuild your engine your self with your friends with the know how is going to be the best option, Then just buy a litle smoker to get to A to B

I have a horrible feeling this is a pay-back for a badly missed shift two weeks ago at Collerne. I f*cked up a change from fourth to fifth and got third instead, buzzed the engine something chronic, thought I'd got away with it, I guess I did'nt though Unsure

Cheers, at least I have a van to get around in in the meantime, I think I might have to put some rallye stripes on it though for the sake of appearances.Smile

Thanks for all the words of encouragement everyone, nice to know deep dow you all care Love LOL

The plan is to start from scratch and build a new lump, utilising my old block if it's still servicable (As I know it's history) Obviously I'll need a replacement lump in the short term, but that should'nt be too hard to find.

Good luck on the rebuild, do you think the bottom end may have had something to do with your lower than expected bhp result from a while back? Or does it not work like that? Dunno

No not really, figures aside she pulled like a train right up until the ominous death rattle reared it's ugly head Sad

Looks like I have sourced a low mileage block to be starting again with. I plan to have the old block checked over once its out and if it's ok, use that as my base to build a high comp, high rpm track engine Ninja

Likewise, I think that from passengers reactions and from looking at what I'm able to get past on track (before she blows!) that I do have a fast car with a genuine 180bhp and that is actually a fair bit of poke in a lightish car. Obviously I would'nt mind some more Ninja

Bad luck Jim Sad I think dropping in another standard engine whilst you sort yours is the way to go. At least that way you won't be without your car for too long.

I have sourced a complete bottom end from Ben Tearle on here, I'm going to fit as many parts as possible from underneath if I can as I hope not to remove the head from the block if I can avoid it.

I've not had the chance to whip off the sump yet to see the extent of the damage (That's this weekend planned for me) so I thought I'd update on the cars progress leading up to the trackday from hell Dry

Marathon wire cutting and looming session, worked all through the night on the car to get it ready for a day at Collerne. Was sat outside the shop the next morning and my workmate said "You're here early!" "Not been home yet" was my bleary eyed reply.

Collerne was awesome though but I forgot the camera!

You can't see it but it was about 4 AM and 6 coffees in at this point and I was beginning to think...Why??

Snip! Snip! Snip oh! f*ck I need that one...
