quote: [QUOTE=Bic;79878]Okay all systems go when and wherever we can Stage 1 complete of the cured roof panel Then onto stage 2, with glue film laid down and 10mm honeycomb core and then 2 more plies of 203gram pre preg (a little overkill in the end but its so strong overall now), lamianted in 2 sections to allow for roll cage main hoop, which we templated off another roof by placing on car and marking round etc, sits nice and tight on the inside, very happy with end result The finished article after some machine and hand sanding to give a nice smooth appearance on the inside of panel Templating for honeycomb core for the bonnet panel Boot also being progressed Final weight of the roof panel was 3.2kg, a little heavier than we wanted but the better for it being so rigid given the lay up we used and the core Should have bonnet and boot completed this week right the way through with all fixings and trim detail for aerocatches and hinge fixings all in place. with the amount of honeycomb core we are using and lots less carbon, aiming for 2.5kg for bonnet and under 2kg for bare bootlid (without rear screen, which I am also investigating if I can get in les than 4mm polycarbonate, which is what i have lined up to go in, but in quest for weight saving could do with thinner, lol) I also dropped off the door hinges to good friend Russell to trim down to size which will then be suitable for laminating into the new door panels Thats all for now ________________________________________ www.streamlinecarbon.comComposite Specialists for Road, Track & Race . . . |

Pd144 - yep doing a 2nd mould of the trumpets so we can bond an inner and outer together fir tool face finish in and out . Our moulds are mixture, larger ones use glass with one of our resin systems, smaller are 100% pre preg carbon moulds, as you know, cost lots in materials etc Just spoke to P4P and also got availability of front screen too now Going for Endurance spec front screen in 5mm material with a coating completed out in Holland by Lexan (as no one in the uk does it) this allows use of the wipers on the screen, Rear screen - I am going for 2mm instead of the current 4mm panel, which obviously will halve the weight Front screen going to be thick end of ________________________________________ www.streamlinecarbon.comComposite Specialists for Road, Track & Race . . . |
