I've managed to get my calipers ordered today after a bit of a mess around with rally design. The only problem now is that they haven't got the calipers in stock and are waiting for a shipment to come in so i now have to wait for about 4 weeks . I will get these brakes fitted at some point! |

Well it turns out that the spigot rings internal diameter was too small and was fowling on the hub nuts "R" clip. Which meant the spacer wasn't seating straight.I've had the ring turned out a little so it fits properly. But they are still broken It makes putting the wheel on a pain in the arse!! Also, one of the wheels is bent! It's had a bit of a knock on the inside edge. I'm going to attempt to give it a bash with a nylon mallet sometime this week then get the wheels balanced. I bled the brakes again this afternoon and they're getting there. Still not quite 100% but almost It's so easy to get the ABS kicking in now. And finally, off topic, my car has decided that it wants to run at 90ish degrees instead of its normal 80ish (10 degrees higher). There's no pressure in rad and plenty of water in it. I'm thinking either the gauge is fubared or the sender is, as the fans (which work of a different sensor) kick in 10degrees higher (by gauge) than before also. I'll find out in a bit as I'm off to Pug or GSF for a new sender ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Got those pictures for you Paul. They fitted perfectly and do not protrude from the arches. Obviously they stick out a little further than normal (10mm to be precise) but I'm not complaining. Only problems were brake hoses. Passengers side had been butchered by some one before so my brake spanner was just rounding it off even further. Nothing a pair of mole grips didn't sort. Can't really blame you for that tho Oh and I've finally got all the air out of them. They're pretty god dam good, but they do squeal when they're hot. ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. There's a definite step up in friction once they're warm. I've not got them to fade yet so all is good Trouble is in this weather it's difficult to really push them hard. I've got a run over to Weston this weekend so I'm sure there'll be an opportunity somewhere ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Mabe that's the answer?? Mine only squeal when you brake lightly when they're hot so I can live with it. If you read back through the thread there's 20 odd per cent more pressure available on the pads. It certainly feels so Once Fletch has his car up and running properly we're going to have a comparison between his standard callipers/DS2500's and mine. Ditto on the progressive part. I only did a few high speed HARD brake tests on mine, but i kid you not it was like throwing an anchor out the boot and the front just nose dived and shrugged the speed off in no time at all. Just need a G suit Seriously, I'm gunna let the other guys do the talking as they are the ones that have them and use them ________________________________________ Life is a lie. i was using tarox g88 discs on the front and standard rear discs with ferodo ds2500 all round and have to say the braking was alot better than standard. When i get back on the road will be phillipm's wavy discs on the back with ferodo ds2500's and th wilwoods on the front with the smart pads. Will be interesting to see the difference. Have a braking distance from 70mph marked out on a road near me for reference. ________________________________________ Team High Boost Supercharged Gti-6™ |
