Well I've finally got round to fitting the brakes. As yet I've not driven the car with them on. I'm off out to bed them in a moPics...... From this . . . To this . . . And with the wheel on . . . Overall, they fitted perfectly. Well done to all involved ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Just got back in Phil. Pedal travel is slightly longer, but I guess they're not bedded in properly yet. Worryingly tho, I had quite bad vibration from around 60mph on, as if my wheels were out of balance. They wasn't before. I've just been out and torqued up the wheels again to a slightly higher torque setting and noticed a couple of bolts were looser than others despite torquing them up before I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of it ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Bit of moly grease on the spacer bore and spigots if it still does it, still sounds like they haven't gone up quite square to start with.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Just got in again. . Think there's still a little air in the system. If you press the pedal twice the brakes feel razor sharp. First prod you get more travel before brakes bite. Vibration is still there but not as bad. I think I had a little before I fitted the brakes, so I don't know if having the wheels 10mm further out each side is making it worse. I'll try a little grease on the spigots tomorrow morning Phil. If that doesn't solve it I'll get them balanced on the car next time I'm in the Midlands. ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Yup, i'd expect you to bleed them 2-3 times untill you are fully happy with them. I can't tell from the pictures but do the wheels protrude from from tha arch much? Was the fittings all ok? No arsing about? ________________________________________ Life is a lie. The only certainty of which is death. Go live and enjoy yourself. The clock is tickingVrs power!! |

Was the fittings all ok? No arsing about? Wheels don't protrude at all IIRC. Well at least not from the top of the arch. I'll Take a pic tomorrow when it's light. TBH, I'm not even sure how big the spacers are that Phil sent me I know that the spigot ring on one has definitely broke and the other has more than likely broke. The broken spigot is sat in my shed at the moment. I don't see that it really matters. Just a bit of a pain fitting the wheel back on I'm a little worried about the vibration but not so about the spongy brake pedal. If you pump the pedal once before you actually brake, they're pretty shit hot. I mean braking down from sat 70 mph is fantastic without actually pressing on too hard. I've only done 30 mile or so with them and they already feel better than before. Onc they're fully bed in and bled completely I think they're going to be fantastic. But I'm coming from standard callipers and pads Silly question really but did you bleed from top and bottom bleed nipples? I know your not supposed to but just wondering if you did? ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. SteviePut wrote: Silly question really but did you bleed from top and bottom bleed nipples? I know your not supposed to but just wondering if you did? No ALWAYS top, from bottom would only put air in. As they are new and come full of air they will need bleeding a few times to expell all air out from cross over tubes and pipework etc. Work the inner most first, then the outer. Once you have had them hot and the fluid moves a bit easier they do become easier to bleed. ________________________________________ Life is a lie. The only certainty of which is death.
