How about this one 8800rpm & still pulling well over 280bhp at fly

Did over 200bhp at the wheels here after tyre warmed up at only 6000rpm

I plugged my sound system in to watch those videos.
Very nice, how does the sound compare to the bodies on the old engine?

Induction noise twice as loud on full chat. Exhaust sounds better, I think I may have a problem tripping out the sound meter on drive bys....Whistle

This video sound just doesn't do the sound justice .....my phone mic was maxing out at 5000 let alone my ear drums even with eardefenders on

So what's special about this engine that makes so much power? Presume it has a good head port, big cams, etc.?

Couldn't tell you everything in it, but the main thing is attention to detail of the whole package, from trumpet tip to the end of the exhaust manifold.

length and shape of trumpet, tract length, valve shape, chamber and piston crown shapes.

valve train is nothing out of the ordinary afaik, uprated double springs std retainers and solid tappets.

cam profiles will be something that Sandy has developed himself over the years, usually nowhere near as wild as some would imagine, namely due to looking for a properly rounded performance rather than purely chasing peak numbers, because that makes for a slow race/rally car.

exhaust manifolds are another area you can win or lose massive lumps of performance, pulse tuning again here, getting the primary and secondary length right will effectively suck the cylinder empty as its on its way up.

its knowing what to use where and what shapes you need to make the air do what you want is the tricky bit.

I'm not sure exactly what that is to be honest without taking one of his heads and copying it, and thats just not cricket as they say !

I do know of late he has been successful with getting the gti6 head to do what he's been doing with the XU7 for a few years now, two sides to that, less material to remove/re-shape!

Dan all I can say truthfully is go carefull building your own m8 ....I did think just bolting all the best parts together give you a great engine LOL

Dont get me wrong there's more than just Sandy who builds Engines out there Thumbs up ....one person on here I know who had everything had a massive falling out & some at Combe don't like him ...but they never got to get one of his engines that's because Sandys Sandy & tells people what they DONT want to hear LOL ....he's Marmite ...I drive him round the bend LOL
It's no good saying you want this & that & him telling you ....it won't work & you saying but I want it ...he will say bye bye ...
Give him your money & walk away & be prepared for a long wait ...but by Christ his Winning & top spot positions in every car sport apart from drag racing prove its self ....

Welshpug knows all the top Blokes directly or in directly & he hears who's doing what & from the very start he put me straight ...as much as Mei can be a pain ...he's bloody knows his stuff & if he doesn't he knows a man who does ...Thumbs up
Much respect to this man Sandy Brown love him or hate him....you can knock his track record Thumbs up

PS thank you to Mei for all the great advice on my journey & when you going to have a drive Whistle

bolting good parts together properly can get you a good engine, but theres quite a difference to a great engine.

Call me suspicious but why would you sell a good Cammed engine if it wasent better ?
And why would you double check with Sandy on certain things that involve big engine high lift cams with solid lifters ....come on Welshpug tell the truth LOL

How could anyone tell what's inside by looking at that picture Whistle
I think someone's not answering the whole question & being a MP Razz
