AEM wideband?

save sandy some work next time its mapped Wink

This is the one Sandy recommended Just before you two posted ...Thumbs up

Apart from mapping Mei wouldn't this AEM gauge drive you nuts looking at it on the dash with all the LEDs etc or Not ...is really all its use is for mapping ?

You couldn't or shouldn't ajust anything even if it gave a mental reading on track days ?

doesn't drive me nuts , I don't sit there looking at it really but its a decent quick indication if there's something wildly wrong, not 100%, but I think its brightness varies with the ambient lighting so its not that bad.

As I still had a cat fitted on my ZX Sandy set my ecu to do some self correcting too.

Ok thank you Brilliant Mei ....seem to be a X series ?....which col black would do the job ?....can fit a lamba back into my decat down-pipe Thumbs up

Sandy just texted & said its a handy thing & saves him plugging his WB lamba in for mapping but that's the big really biggest help he says ....

Yes Mei it does have a sensor on the front and dims slightly but not a lot.

Wondering if mine works properly or not though while we're on the subject of AEM wide band... seems to work OK when driving indicates lean as f**k to nothing on over run etc but when it's turned on without the engine running it shows a constant figure of fairly well what the last thing it read was.... goes up or down a bit but stays around 12-14.... with the engine off it will be 0 fuel and 20% oxygen so it should be reading the same way when on over run I would think and just have 2 lines?

Digging my 6 out the garage this week somewhen so I'll refresh my memory on what it actually does.

I wanted mine in case something goes wrong fuel wise and I start running lean as f**k. Anything involving boost and it's easy to melt things lol.

The guy who did my mapping said my AEM wideband was bang on what his lambda sensor was reading which he put in the end of the exhaust. I assumed the AEM would be somewhere close to what's going on in there, but the fact he said it was bang on at all extremes made me think its actually not a bad bit of kit.
Handy to see whats going on and to check things arent going to start trying to melt themselves at a glance too, i'm impressed with mine.
It was also fairly useful when i had a base map as i used it to get the engine running a little sweeter which enabled me to then drive the car to the mapping session.

I think the Stack one can be set with alarm thresholds for fault warning. That might save a blowup if it caught an injector running lean but apart from that it serves no real purpose other than mapping and keeping an eye on an otherwise healthy engine.

Tonight ...Found a small-oil leak & power steering leak tonight and sourced the causes.....

1. Oil leak is from old oil pressure sensor plug NOT Used any longer ....(which on the far right in the picture below says M16 blank )....so I'm going to remove the unused sensor & fit a blank ...ANYONE know if it's M16 fine or common course metric .... I think it should be ....?

2. Power steering sensor plug weeping not from base from where the edges are pressed & crimped around the sensor ...I've removed this already & will fit a blank with a copper washer Thumbs up

PS this is not my engine it's a picture stolen off here Big grin LOL

Small update ...
A few of us on here run TRS Carbon roof vents ....I asked Twangy / Wayne about them being noisy & the water coming in far to much when raining & he came up with a amazing suggestion .....
But a decent cheap Air filter & fit that ontop of the mess fitted inside the lid ...it keeps it from wind noise & dust also limits the rain a little ...even though mine vents into a cycle bottle temp LOL
So thanks to Twangy here's my take on it ...

ITG JCS-12 with three filtration layers & round end cut off & flatted out with finer foam on the inside ..job done ....your a star Wayne

Now cut & flattened out before fitting Thumbs up
Two layer filter that can be cleaned & does not restrict airflow much ....

Normal cheap open cell foam didn't work Thumbs down

I should have blanked off the sensors on my engine. Still got things like oil level, and the spare oil pressure one that I don't use!
