you still have the spring thing?

Yes Mei ..I have a non Spring Tensioner that I was given & I could fit but bearings are clicky ....
I'm looking at doing away with the whole tensioner or fixed extra roller totally long term ....get a much shorter belt & then this Rose jointed ajuster will come into its own for putting tension on the belt Thumbs up

I didn't bother with an adjustable bar and just used a stretchy belt straight from the crank pulley on to the alternator. Using a smaller / lighter alternator is interesting though, might have to look in to that, assuming it fits the original mounting points.

Interestingly I was looking back, your gearbox only gives you 128mph in 6th? That's not a lot, I hit about 130 ish at Rockingham?

rockingham has far longer straights than Combe, though Combe is still a very high average speed, especially for FWD chassis.

That's fine if you only want to do Combe but that must be so boring? I find Brands Indy really dull as I've done so many trackdays there!

Dan have you ever been to Combe ?...YOU would love it m8
It's 6miles from my front door
It's the most dangerous track in the UK m8 & responsible for 70% of the crashes LOL
You can't get bored of that danger m8 ...

But I'm planning on doing lots more tracks also ...sadly I've no trailer yet & I have to drive my car to the venue which isn't ideal ...
Would love a old Beaver tail midi van ....Thumbs up

I'm not saying Combe is boring, it's a good circuit, but there are so many others out there! It's fast but I'd say it's still safer than Cadwell if you're going flat out.

You're missing out on Craner Curves at Donnington, Paddock Hill at Brands, Turn 1 and Goose Neck at Cadwell, Turn 1 at Rockingham, Druids at Oulton, etc. So many good circuits that doing one over and over again is just a little tedious? Once you've figured out the lines and are comfortable in the car then the danger goes away and you're just lapping for the sake of it, which is a bit pointless to me. I've come in during a Brands trackday because I was genuinely bored in the car!

Right I've been speaking to Frank from Advanti Motorsport in Street / Somerset ...
He's a gearbox Guru & used to design & assemble 5 speed & 6speed boxes for Peougeot Rallye team in Coventry in the day ..
Anyway he did some designs & R&D for Bacci in Italy & knows Plate Diffs & Sequential gearboxes inside out ..also made a plate diff without planet gears because that was a big week spot so say ...

I asked him about gearboxes for Super big power cars like Ollies & Ross sadly he said anything over 350 they were always having failures on LSDs & Gearsets ..one of the reasons he gave was lack of oil & said even without the syncros & bearings the torque killed them also ...
Frank said they tried every trick in the book & one they helped massively was to vent the box as I've just done in the picture below his idea not mine & put an extra 500ml in the box ....2.5 litres he said of high quality gearbox oil ..

He said the boxes were transformed with the high power cars ...he used to go to Coventry twice a week back in the day ...

Anyway I thought I've got a expensive Syncro box with Bacci crownwheel & pinion so why not give it a try seeing as my box does get hammered ...
What have I got to lose ?.....he said it must be vented like this don't use the standard vent Thumbs up

You need to come do croft, flat out through the Jim Clark esses into barceoft and knockhill is a great track for our cars too, but you's probably will never make it this far up living so far away

Invest in a trailer! No point having a well specced car that you can't push hard as you're worried you'll end up in the wall with no way of getting home. At our last race someone had a crash and it turned out they had driven the car there, such a silly idea.
