With out knowing what part was at fault I'm not jumping the gun and even thinking about it! The thing is mine/richs, Andy's and stans lasted pretty well at circa 440hp and 315 lb ft, when Ross's box went it was only at high boost figures I hope it isn't the straight cuts at fault! It could be down to oil starvation or oil to hot but it could all be down to the plate diff! I certainly won't be spending 10k on a gearbox that for sure! At this moment in time all my money is going towards the house and I have even thought about selling up..... But then I took it out for a drive |

10k to have a drive able ragable car yes I would consider it, I feel disheartened at the moment I'm 20k in and can't even drive my car. I wish to be fair I hadn't gone on the dyno and had just been happy with the car the way it was at 317bhp but it was running Rich and I thought I'd get the fueling sorted. Now I feel I'm back to square one. My gearbox will be investigated and my diff can be rebuilt, I'm not jumping the gun but I think that I need to have a proper solution to the problem! 10k tho a lot if it sorts the issue wouldn't bother me if I just need to maintain the car rather than replace a gearbox and diff every 1000 miles. You've got to remember this problem so far has cost 2k it only has to happen 4 more times and I'd have spent 10k. To be fair I'm not even sure it's worth sorting it but at the moment I've got a car I cannot even use. Anyone else in my position would also be considering there options I think?________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

I wasn't referring to you jumping the gun bud, I would just rather not think about it until the time comes! I do see your logic behind spending 10k on a box, the only thing is I doubt you will get any warranty or guarantee on what ever you do as its a motorsport item and they never give warranty or a guarantee! Are you 100% sure that 3rd and 4th are damaged? |

I thought when it came to mapping it was only done in one gear?? As it'd not a boost by gear or rpm set up I'm unsure why it has to be done in each gear? Again I know sod all about mapping and Wayne does! |

Not to dishearten you even more Ross, but no dog engagement box (this includes sequentials) are fit and forget. If you screw up a shift you'll knock dogs off, a loose dog in a gear will strip a gear and every time you shift gear you get small fragments of metal introduced into the oil and so regular servicing is essential and often costly. I would seriously look into an ML box, or maybe a Volvo/Saab box or similar, I know its a bit of f**king about but once in, parts are plentiful and reasonably priced, I honestly don't think a sequential will do you any favours. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

To be fair I think I'm just going to get the quaife gearkit that pug1offs 205 ran until I can sort a six speed out, R32 gearbox converted to fwd seems to be good for over 500 lbft I will succeed and have a great fun car. Just at the moment I feel disappointed and p**sed off. Plus the aa fcked two r888s by strapping the car to tight to the lorry so that's another £200 I need to spend. ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Evo box converted to fwd I've seen a few xu bottom ends with all sorts of gearboxes at car shows over the years something must be doable with adaptor plate or similar? Have heard r32 boxes are fairly strong yes but also 4wd.... No one really makes a road going front wheel drive car with that much torque.... For a reason... ________________________________________ Black power baby! Kiddy works opposite my garage has a corsa he's spent far to much on running Turbo'd 1.8sri engine with custom manifolds etc making a safe 320bhp for now. Using a calibra 4x4 turbo gearbox converted to fwd only and had no problem so far after a number of track days________________________________________ Black power baby! Gearbox has been apart it seems the failure has arisen from bearing failure. The car is back together but I'm not going to go for mapping until I've fitted a gearbox oil cooler and fitted a few more shiny bits sorry membership had run out ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |
