Right am looking at options for gearbox for my super highboost does anyone have any sensible suggestions advice or anything? My car decided to s**te it's gearbox on the dyno and I'm not really interested in p**sing around not averse to any suggestions or recommended substitute gearboxes? Rather not go sequential as I will be limited in class that I can enter competition with ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Have you looked in to converting to an ML box? Is there an off the shelf sequential available that will handle the torque of a F/I car? ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

Yes sadevs new transverse setup will handle it, got a quote of 12.5k including paddle shift. But as I say that puts me in class with 1000bhp evos which is pointless in my eyes. Ml gearbox yes that's all good apart from there is no lsd available. I've spoken to a couple of gearbox manufacturers about a one off gear kit for the Box but the way I feel now I'm better off just binning the whole project as it seems nothing is available.________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Yep but it is going to handle 360lbft? Just losing interest due to reliability I spent £300 on Wednesday to do £1500 worth of damage. Haven't even made it onto track yet ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

I believe an ML will handle that sort of torque yes, I have no personal experience though im afraid.Other than that you need to start looking at other manufactures... Ford, Saab, Volvo perhaps? ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

I agree other than that I thought Honda as the civics have updated gears available with different ratios available, I've found a company that builds ml sequential boxes, just going to treble the cost of my conversion and how do the sequentially react on dyno? Don't want to be snapping one of those at 12 k________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

I'm not sure how good the synchros are in the boxes they use in the k20/ep3??Sequential is no different on a dyno?! Unless you don't know what you're doing when trying to set flat shift or auto blip up I guess..... ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

I really really feel for you Ross !Was speaking to a guy & his sister with a super fast super charged Golf at Combe last week & a chap with a Turbo charged Audi & both were complaining of similar problems ...one was using Drenth stuff & said its amazing ? The other Quaife stuff but still they were telling me of Gearbox failures & the Golf was 400bhp not 500 like yours .... I believe Drenth do heavy duty boxes that take 500nm ? Have a look on there website if you haven't already I really do hope you find a sensible price ML gearbox & 3j plate diff & strengthened driveshafts ...I'm not even sure if you were crazy enough to go Sequencel that it would take all your Torque ? Please don't give up and keep us posted ..... Small set back m8 This from 2010 from Miles on here !!!! miles wrote: The ML box fit's and is allot stronger than the BE box, But it's twice as heavy, Needs a cable conversion unless you can fit a master cylinder on the clutch pedal and custom shafts as the inner splines are different, Also is using the 2.0 turbo version then I would add another 2 planet gears like the V6 or a ATB diff dare I say it |

Why don't you hold your horses until you've found out the exact cause of failure of yours? I think we need to understand what the issue is before considering next steps.Wayne's previous advice to me was to fit a Japanese box - the gears are generally superior to European stuff. Box out of a K20 engined Civic should be reasonably straight forward to fit, and they can take a fair bit of power. ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |

Think you'll find your limited in classes you want to race in anyway with a supercharged engine that was NA as standard. You'll likely end up in the 'anything goes' class. Any idea which series you're looking at? Reliability is always going to be an issue when you have modified things t the extent you have, especially if you plan to race it. Agree with Rich though, find out exactly what the cause of the current boxes failure is before panicking. However I've heard of a few Honda boxes going bang with the TTS sc conversions, but they do tend to run higher rpm. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

I just don't know what to do the issue is I have a lot of money invested in a car that I can no longer drive. Just want an answer gearbox will be out Monday until then we won't know what actually failed. But it must of been something substantial to have broken the lsd as well.________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Ross, just stick a standard box in it for now, as an interim measure whilst we look at the failure mode of your gearbox. It could be anything... can you save some of the oil in a container when you remove it, it may need to be analysed ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |

There may be a batch of diff's being made for the ml box, I'm waiting to find out if it's got the go ahead yet, they've currently got a gearbox and waiting on them to say if they are going to do it or not, but if there were some people who would definitely be interested in 1 then that might sway them :-)________________________________________ 205 mi16405 Mi16x4 restoration project 406 v6 saloon track car project/daily driver 508 Hdi |
