Looking to get a cordless impact gun for around £150, any recommendations? Primary use will be doing the wheels on the race car but good to have it for other things when at the track.

Buy a Milwaukee brushless job, I borrowed a 3/8 drive one off the lad in work, it removed my main crank pulley bolt in one squirt.... I had tightened it so I knew it was right.

Get a 2nd hand 18v li/on Makita with a 1/2" drive. Charges in 22 mins and virtually indestructible. 440 n/m torque should be plenty. Or the smaller ones have about 220n/m torque iirc.

I've a makita 1/2 drive and it's superb.

Was double your budget new though IIRC.

The best thing I like about it is how the batteries are interchangeable with lots of other units. I bought a bare body drill for around £50 as I already had a couple of batteries and a charger.

It's for a Christmas present so has to be new. Milwaukee sounds interesting and I recognise the brand, will have a look at those.

This looks good but damn expensive when you include a battery: http://www.builderdepot.co.uk/milwaukee-hd28iw-0-28v-heavy-duty-1-2-impact-wrench-body-only.html

Makita one gets my vote, I can't afford one but my mate has one and its very good. All my work tools are 18v Makita and they are brilliant, really well built, never let me down. Batteries can be a bit temperamental mind! I have an 18v Clark one, think it was £90 about 6-7 years ago. Always been reliable but lacks a bit of grunt for the really tight stuff...

We have a 250L air compressor for the bigger stuff when we're in the garage but it's more for when we're out at the track, so maybe a cheaper one might be ok

Yeah, should do the job. The Clark one does most stuff fine, you'll be torquing wheel bolts and stuff anyway I assume so if its mainly for whizzing stuff on and off a cheaper one will be fine.

    Thoughts on Ryobi? http://www.ryobi-direct.com/ryobi-biw180m-one-18v-impact-wrench-c2x13900793

Needs batteries as well and the torque isn't particularly high but it should do enough?

I've never like ryobi, always made bad drills imo. But then I use them every day. If its only at track then I can't see it being a problem.
