Since I'm here, I've gone to fit the harness over the roll cage bar but both ends of the harness are sewn into a loop so I cannot undo it to lap it over the harness bar. If I undo the stitching and then get the end sewn over so it's like a normal harness is this acceptable? MOT wise and track day wise? ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |

There are the standard bolt to the floor type buckles on there but I would rather lap it over the harness bar. Otherwise I'll have to go for the clip on bolt type thingamybob. That's the technical term for them anyway________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Get a buckle to thread it through. Sewing it up wont suffice at however many tons of force you'll create on it________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Yeah thats what I mean, the rear part of the harness is a loop so I can't undo it like you would a normal harness. Am I ok to just cut the existing stitching so I can run it through a buckle like a normal harness would. I was going to stitch the end so it doesn't look a mess________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! I want to do as shown on here http://www.securon.co.uk/fitting/extras/fiaharnessfitting.htm (can't remember how to do a clicky any more)But the rear strap cannot be undone as it is stitched back onto itself after the bracket, so can I cut the stitching? ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! If you buy cheap eyelet harnesses you can't convert them to roll cage loop ones as far as I know. It's the ones that you buy as cage loops that you can thread through a buckle. ________________________________________ |

Left - right - rear from a V I was wondering what he was on about. They are the same to sit in as 4 point, the two chest straps join behind the seat so only one bolt point ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! On the race car we drilled a hole behind the handbrake cables then put in welded a plate in.In this photo, near the top left, you can see a circular indentation in the metal work. We drilled a hole there: Then got a plate like this: http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/heavy-duty-harness-fixing-plate-3mm and weld it in with the nut inside the hole ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Yeah I was thinking that, but I haven't got a welding set. Gripfill to the rescue! ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |
