Well after weeks of searching for a car I picked up a CTR today. I searched for ages and its so hard to find one that hasnt been modified or been properly maintained! This one has a full history and is in really good condition inside and out.

Ill be honest, I had very high expectations of this car and was frankly a bit disappointed with it. The engine is great, it's fast and powerful but it's let down massively by the steering. I'd heard it was numb but I didn't think it would be that bad, I dread to think what the pre-facelift was like. It certainly isn't as good to drive as a 6 but it is a step up in terms of quality and reliability. It has its issues which I will sort out in time such as replacing the decat and changing some bushes.
So in summary, it's a cheap reliable car that's cheap to insure (for me) and is fairly good on fuel so it will do for now. I really can't see me owning this for too long though as its a car I've always wanted to own but it's a bit "young" for me.

Edit: the damm windows rattle too which is so annoying and apparently there is no fix Sad

I drive one again a few weeks back and was massively disappointed with it to be honest. Their s nice looking car in standard form and pretty reliable, but as you say the steering is void of any feel and I find them completely gutless and boring to drive unless your willing to absolutely beat it to within an inch of its life then their quite fun. But if you do that all the time they become an oil burner and loose the reliability IMO.

Not for me really but I see why people like them.

The question is does your boy like it? My 2 year old loves the 6 then again he had no choice he was subjected to the noise and a stiff ride for 9 months before he was born LOL

I've driven a few CTR's they sound absolutely awesome with a filter on them!! Then again no different to the 172 cup i have access to with a cone filter. I just find myself going from normal noise 1-4k then the epic change in roar 5k onwards.

I found the seats in the CTR irritating, the gear stick position is cool until you get arm ache. My mate who owns one claims a girl he was seeing f**ked his gear stick Cool

I've not taken the little one out in it yet until I get it thoroughly checked out beforehand. I don't mind the gear stick as its the same as my Transit which I do a lot of miles in so I'm used to it. I must smell the gear knob though in case it too has been used for other purposes LOL

Love this car, got that great minivan looks, and fully independent rear suspension oppose to the later models.

If I was after a real drivers car then I wouldn't buy one of these though. Great fun but its that lack of steering feel that ruins it. Apparently the ITR is the car to have.

A few of my mates are Honda enthusiasts, and would agree with you saying the ITR is the car to have. That or an EK9 type r.

That said the EP3 is a decent car, I like them, and certainly wouldnt turn down the opportunity to own one.. if I could still keep my 6.

Just out of interest, how much you pay and whats costings like compared to a 6, insurance, fuel etc? I was thinking of ditching the Rallye and getting one of these cus I thought it would be very similar but better build quality.

And when I say ditching the Rallye I mean driving it into some woods and setting it on fire.

LOL this cost me nearly £3.5k which isn't too bad for an '05 plate. The insurance is only £326 for me but with a huge excess as I guess so many get smashed up as well as third party claims. Fuel is surprisingly good, got 200 miles on half a tank with a good bit of thrashing on the way home. Parts are quite pricey so I'm told but if its been looked after it shouldn't need much really. It's going straight in the garage on Saturday to have its cat fitted back on so I should get a few quid for the decat pipe hopefully.
