Aweomse thread for a great car, my dad had 3 BX 16vs when I was younger. Really rapid for a car of their size and handled amazingly well. Always had a soft spot for the MI16 405s too. Had a 405 estate 1.9TD that handled surprisingly well for its bulk |

another update for you guys.so i left off with a few parts in a container de-rusting as i was back in work for a few days, it gave the solution plenty of time to do its business. i am very happy with the results even the hubs came out awesome! removed the rear bumper to give better access to cleaning up some surface rust not much paint needed at all to treat areas which were scabby let's see how my rear caliper yokes turn out after a bit of soaking in deox c ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. small updateafter allowing the deox c to do it's work, i then painted the trailing arms and sprayed the wheel hubs ready for re-assembly. if i pull my finger out, i'll get the beam rebuilt and back on in the next couple of days. i was quite fortuneate last saturday though i found a guy breaking a '91 405 mi16, and was told if i wanted any bits, all i would have to do was go and remove them. even the tools were supplied. needless to say i returned home from my trip to the west midlands, with a spare axle, and loads of other rare and useful items. ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. good progress todaymade up the brakelines that run from axle along sill, and to the front of the car. got the axle on while underneath, i decided i should fit a new fuel filter. it was a pattern part which was fitted, and also fitted the wrong way around got the rear bumper refitted, along with inner arch trim this is how i have left it for tonight tomorrow i will get the hubs on, get the fuel tank back on, and all being well finish off the rear end. but i still have to paint the yokes for the rear calipers ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. had a very productive day yesterday all the new self-made brakelines fitted, and fitted perfectly, with thanks to servicebox which gave the measurements. axle went back on with ease, and just have to get some rear discs today, before i can finish the brakes. fuel tank back on aswell will post some pics later when i get the car back on its wheels ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. here's how i've got on in last couple of days.had an issue sourcing rear discs, and lost a day because of that new calipers, discs and pads on, with handbrake cables connected considering fuel tank had been off and filter changed, car started easily, and runs sweet here's how the car looks at mo very, very happy with how the car sits! with thanks to coz-kev, we got the brakes bled eventually. BUT for some reason, i have good solid pedal when car is not running, yet once i start it up, the pedal goes soft. i honestly can't see it being the servo, as the brakes worked perfectly before i started replacing braklines. also found my rad fans aren't working, so will try a new switch. fans do work though, as i fed a direct 12v to test them. ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. You hear it hissing inside the car when the engine was running and after stopping if it was the servo. Either you have a vacuum leak in the engine bay or the one way valve in the piping between the inlet and the servo is knackered.________________________________________ Black power baby! what is it with the mi16 brakes where they're rock hard for a bit when they're running till the pressure builds up? i remember mine was like that (G plate), normal apparently. dunno if it's anything to do with your issue though________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

sorry for the delay in update guys anyhow. as i couldn't buy new wiper arms, i had the original arms powdercoated. the finish is exceptional, and once fitted, was surprised how good the the washers work with the spray bars had an issue with cooling fans not working, so replaced rad switch, relay, made repair to some wiring and fitted a genuine thermostat which had to come from germany. was much easier to sort with bumper off once i was happy all front end electrics were working, i fitted the new bumper, and driving lamps, along with the s**t guards looks better every day ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE.
