i have the chance of a tracked prepped clio 172, but means swapping my pug with all my good bits. For a while now i have liked the 172, yesterday i got to drive it and they have alot more low/mid range torque but feels a bit breathless at the top compared to the gti6I fancy something new but then i have no spares for a clio whereas i have a MASSIVE spares package for the 306 What do i do? |

Stick with the Pug, it's a known quantity and there are a lot more mods out there for it which are known for reliability etc.Plus as you said, the Clio seems like it runs out of puff at the top end a bit. ![]() ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

I doubt it in terms of performance related mods to be honest. Don't forget these cars have been around a long time now, so there are many tried and tested bits out there. ![]() ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

They probably are Dave, but I was just referring to the length of time that the Peugeot bits had been on the market, we know what works and what doesn't for example.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

I disagree on the low to mid range torque being more than the 6. I have regular use of a 172 cup and they're as flat as a pancake until 5k and even then MY 6 would wipe the floor with it all day long. My opinion but all round as a drivers car i prefer the 6. ________________________________________ Team Nile 6![]() Team: 40.2 MPG ![]() 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ ![]() I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness ![]() |

If you ask this on a clio forum you will be getting the opposite replys lolJust as much bits for the clio, even small things like camber shims and bolts. Their is also a race series for them A 6 is a better track car! understeer in clios is horrendous. Clio is a better road car IMO. ________________________________________ The 205205 GTI6 For Sale Off Racing! |

Keep keep keep, seems a lot of mind making up lately, just do the 205 and relish on how good it drives, especially with uprated coilovers to cope with the extra 20 kg weight and with added negative camber.Wrong wrong wrong, the LION is the male of the species so i say shut the fook up you girly car lovers with an almost diamond shape trade mark on the front of the car lol. ________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug. I say go for it. Give it a try. Cars are just cars, they're not forever and if you consider yourself a true petrolhead you'll want to drive as many different cars as you can. ![]() ________________________________________ Ph1 306 GTi 6 | RX8 231 S1 | YBR 125 Cafe Racer | MT-03 660 |

As said about my 172 would have a 6 up to 100mph all day long but after that say 110mph it starts to die off abit where as a 6 will pull the clock quite well. I have had plenty of 306s and on to my 2nd clio 172 now and there is not a lot in them at all but its all down to the spec and the driver to be honest. i would say the clio is a better car to drive and as for the under steer you had at croft Jake was down to the crap budget sport comfort tyres on the front what just fell apart ![]() As for mods the clio is easy enough to push 200bhp without spending big money where as a 6 you will without a doubt have to fo for a forged bottom end to run decent cams. But the other side of that, BOOST! S/C kit for a clio will see you 250bhp+ for anywhere between £2500-£4000 depending on if you buy new or 2nd hand then there is the option to go high boost. Clio you are looking around £2000+ for turbo what will see a poor 230bhp maybe a bit more unless you want to go for the hassle on of fitting a megane 225 engine. ________________________________________ Clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

The clio is faster in std form, I have raced against 5 of these now from 172, 182 and tuned one around 195, but they are only 950kg's ish so even with the mere 5 or more HP's they will be faster in a straight line no matter what I'm afraid________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

Renault Sport Clio's are much better than a '6 IMO. Hate to say it but unfortunately it's just how it is.Get a cup for '6 money and drive both back to back. Renault really took over the hot hatch market and make bloody good cars for the money. I personally don't like Renault as a marque, but for a grand you can't go wrong in a RenaultSport. Really really need to chop my Cup in and get something else as I've had it over 4 years, but what else could I buy for ~£1200 that is so capable? ________________________________________ ![]() |
