Are they avaliable genuine black masks like you get valeo ones for the 306?

Still got the 206, carrying on using it as theres not much interest in it selling so I though f**k it, get some track miles under its belt.

Had to have the waterpump changed under warranty as it was leaking a bit, so they paid for new pump, cambelt kit and all the tensioners again. Bugger of a job but hey ho, not my problem! Had only done 1000 miles as well.

Other than that, had a set of 16" Nimrods that i'd got in the wings for Mrs Evans's 206 powdercoated grey and shod with some Federal 595 RSR's in a 205/45/16 flavour. They're on at the moment scrubbing them in before the next trackday in 3 weeks time.

Also had the SP arches re-painted (they were as chippy as a chip shop) and refitted with new clips. They seem to suit the car better with the smaller wheels on I think.

Other than that, just keeping it clean and tidy. I'd sourced a brand new never fitted 206 GTI space saver (with flat bolt seats just like the OE alloys), liberated a spare wheel cage and fitted under the boot floor. This is only possible because the Janspeed exhaust does away with the abortion of a back box that normally fills the under boot floor area.

Booked onto a Javelin open pit lane track day at Donington Park on Sunday 13th October with a load of mates, should be good to see how it fares now its on more focussed rubber.

I'm inclined to agree, but only with the smaller wheels Andy. With the 17's it looked odd I thought.

Fun little cars these. I have the 138 gti and to be honest its a lot quicker than I was expecting. What do you think of the handling over a 306?

Like all of these old cars Eddy, on worn out suspension, they all flop about and feel horrid. Bear in mind now the 206 runs a nigh on identical set up to my Astor 306, and it's almost as good.

The 306 has better steering feel I think, and the longer wheelbase means it feels less harsh over the bumps, however, the 206 isn't as bad as everyone bangs on about, it encourages you to wring its neck and chuck it about more.

How have you found the RSRs? Thinking of getting a set for the track car and read a lot of positive reviews but not really heard anything on any of the 306 forums about them.

Rallye Race Car

I think a lot of the steering feel is due to the much larger vertically mounted wishbone bushes, the rest is standard PSA fare so that's all I can imagine it being.

Was chatting to an engineer yesterday at Rallyday who had a stand with samples of the escort sunbeam and pug stuff that he did, he mentioned that he does spherical joint conversions for the 206 wishbones.

Still enjoying using it at the moment Andy, done a few trackdays in it now, and its easliy as fast as a phase 1 clio 172 stripped out track car, and handles just as well, as we drove them each back to back.

New pads before the next day at Beford on the 14th December and we're good to go. Even the wife has been using it when im out at work LOL!
