I was about 6 seconds faster this time round that I was at the beginning of the year, on a slightly worse day last weekend. Not all of that is the diff, a lot is confidence in the car and sorting out a few other things like the brakes.________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Big update from over the winter! Not a lot of updates mechanically to the car, new tyres and replacement front pads and discs and that's about it. We do have a new livery this year though:We did the MSVR media day this year as well, good to get the car out and help the series out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5CXOhyKi-s Last weekend we had our first race at Snetterton. Qualifying was very damp but we took the decision to run the dry tyres which was inspired as it meant we could get some good laps in at the end of the session. We ended up qualifying on pole by 2.5 seconds clear of any other cars, great result! The race was an epic battle. After a slow start we were 5th at the end of the first lap which meant a scrap to get back through the field to get back to the front. I had an awesome fight with a Fiesta, swapping positions every few corners! Our pitstop was a nightmare after a late call to pit and a red light at the end of the pitlane meaning we lost a few seconds. Luckily we came out ahead of the Fiesta and could start hunting down the Mini in front which was 8 seconds up the road. Fortunately we had some serious pace in the car so started catching at 2 seconds a lap and easily caught the Mini up, which ultimately ended up sliding off on some oil and allowing us through easily. We ended up winning the class and second overall to a guesting Clio Cup car. A great result and a good way to start the season, especially with the car a little down on power! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Yup, 300 track. We get about 2:18 there although I'm not sure the engine was running quite right. ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

We've had quite a few races since then! Cadwell Park - Didn't go quite to plan, was leading the race overall when the inertia switch tripped over a kerb. Ended up finishing the race in last place Brands Indy - Outright and class win: Snetterton (again) - 2nd in class after a drive-through for overtaking under yellows and a 5 second time penalty for track limits: Brands GP - We were 3rd in class when I went for an overtake to move in to 2nd, unfortunately there was a small bit of contact which ended up with my front right tyre popping off the rim 2 laps later! Ended up dead last (again) after changing the tyre in the pits: Donington Park GP - 2nd in class by 0.05s! Great race and were a little bit lucky to get 2nd but 3rd would have been well in the bag: ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

One race to go this year at Oulton Park in a few weeks. I've not driven the circuit before so should be interesting!Over the winter the car is getting a full overhaul with a new engine I've built (which currently lives in the spare race car), new dash etc. I'll post some more updates on that as it progresses as it should be reasonably interesting New engine: ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

I'll probably have a crack at them myself, got loads of black paint around.I love the Dunlops, not going to bother with any other tyre if I can (rules might change next year). A set of rears last pretty much the entire season and the fronts last half a season, not too bad. Some other people in my series have to change tyres every race! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Things don't always go to plan:We had 2 races at Oulton Park this weekend. The first one was great, a really wet race and some good battles gave us 2nd in class and 4th overall, even with a drive-through penalty for cutting a chicane. With all the rain it was really difficult to see where I was going, at points I had to guess where the next corner was. At one point I got fed up with not being able to see so just lunged for an overtake! Race 2 ended quickly with the damage seen in the photos above. First corner we got a little sideways due to cold tyres and a damp track and then got tapped into a spin. While spinning the car got a big hit from someone else which caused the damage to the front wing and ripped the bumper apart. A shame to end the season that way but no one was hurt and hopefully the damage is repairable! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

At least the sill seems okay, most of that will just push out from inside I'd think. Bit of mallet work around the door to pull it back tight.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Here's a video of the crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj8cgOaeDro&feature=youtu.be Cold Direzzas on a damp track unfortunately let go at the rear and we went sideways. Doubt it's going to be cheap to fix but oh well! ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |
