Been told three weeks, next week they are on with the roof, I have just bought an electric roller shutter door and that's going in towards the end of next week. I have bought my garage floor tiles, just trying to find a decent quote to get them laid.

It's all emptying the bank account that's for sure, them cabinets look great and I would like something like that but I am sure they are not cheap!

what kind of floor tiles? any links? i've got some foam gym ones across my garage floor but they aren't geared for the sort of abuse of jacking cars up continuously on them as mine have warped a touch in areas

Hopefully, as soon as I get back from my hols there is plenty that has been done to show you all.

Ricky, remember my garage at my previous house, those are the tiles but this time I am going for the darker sort, these are commonly found in vauxhall dealerships, the masterfit bays, not broke one yet so are very tough.

they are pretty much what i have... i think i need something completely solid. the interlocking ones do flex eventually. i've had mine down about 18 months, they are fubar!

i might buy some big drums of self levelling compound and go apes**t with it

i've seen loads of garages and whatnot on pistonheads but something tells me the people putting shiny 80k cars in their garages aren't doing hardcore work like cutting 205's in half and having a continuous supply of cars going over them with engines and engine cranes. i am happy to be pvoed wrong though

I suspect you'll find that although they bill the tiles as great because you just chuck them down, that's actually bo***cks. If you don't have a perfectly level concrete floor underneath then they're going to move, and as soon as they move they start to wear.

Be careful with the self-levelling compound, it's not as great as you'd hope.

Problem with most of those tiles is the nooks and crannies.

If your prefered method of draining fluids is like mine - with a hacksaw through hoses, then it will be a pain to mop up.

my floor's level, honest, i've done it properly but i've had m3's big old cl55 amg's and numerous cars in and out, cars on axle stands for weeks and engines moving around the garage floor and it murders it. i really don't think the ones i got were geared for it despite being advertised as it. they are horrible for fluid on them like dan says aswell. i'm going to look at it again

the levelling compound bit was a joke. i wouldn't even bother with it

maybe i should stop faffing around with french cars altogether and start playing golf

I reckon what'd be awesome would be to have an artificial floor raised up two inches on some fine metal grate. You could then have the rubber mat on top. Put in some drains under the raised floor and pow, you could actually wash your car with a hose inside and let the water and fluids drain through the false floor and down into the drain.

    Washing cars inside FTW.

If I had the money to be building garages with raised floors, I would not be driving a French car.
