Admin will delete all fault related questions asked in general. I dont think they should be moved as its a way for a non paying members to have their question answered for free. I think what Dan said is good, not allowing non paying members access to the techinical sections at all. When the times comes and someone needs help they will pay the money for sure! The only reason I havent paid is because I know how to work on my own car and ive got enough info from all the years I have been here.

NOw that we have more admins lets see how the forum runs for a while. I think Stan and Jeffers will do a good job!

Theres a 'Stan-pede' coming and he's got his hammer! And Jeffers is also coming with his hammer LOL

how will it run any different with stan and jeffers as admin? all they would be doing is moving threads, nothing to do with any of the other issues mentioned on here, which ash can only sort

stan and jeffers' enthusiasm for the site is a good thing but is not a replacement for the other problems in all the other threads

Yeah they will be moving and deleting stuff as required, which I think will then trigger other positive changes like people paying for membership. I have already forgotton all other issues brought up so as far I'm concerned they dont exist.

Your quite correct, but I think we need to give it a few weeks, see what changes are implimented and then come back with some feedback.

Wise words. Nothing's going to get done overnight just because the Admin team has grown. What it does mean is that we've got new enthusiasm and input into the discussion of work / priorities etc.

£5 flat rate. No posting at all if you don't pay. Allowed to view general and maybe a couple others for free to intice people in. Is it not worth £5 to chit chat if nothing else?

Thats my opinion. Don't shoot the messenger. Smile

^^^ All this, this is just an excuse to justify a membership charge. f*ck silly cards and paper, a club is about the social aspect, meets etc. I do believe there is quite a bit of that on here is there not? I for one am attending a 'club' meet on Sunday.

*EDIT, not a dig at you personally bud Thumbs up *

Sorta doesn't work does it? As you are the one sending and delivering the message. So yes, we can shoot the messenger.

I can chat on facebook for free, and can find most of the members from here on there. So why would you pay "just to chat" when half the forum users won't even pay to post in the technical sections, extra inbox space and the ability to report threads?

IMO making it pay only will probably kill it. PSOOC did it, and it pretty much deserted what was a very lively forum.

It's an internet forum at the end of the day, surely there's more to life than page upon page of debate about who can do what, post here or there etc. Given some of the posts, anyone would think some of your lives actually depended on this place just to survive LOL

The payment/membership introduction was always likely to cause issues, especially since it appears to have been pretty poorly managed. It's like the Pugs for Sale section, why is that still locked when it would no doubt take seconds to unlock it (as it did for khj100) and allow members to use it again? Not one member has said anything positive about the new Classified section, surely that's a sign it isn't working.

It's also worth noting that introducing paid membership on the site would have probably worked around 8-10 years ago. Had it been obligatory when the car was in its heyday then I suspect members would have happily stumped up their wedge as it was a vibrant, thriving community of like-minded enthusiasts. A large number of old-school members have long since moved on from a 6/Rallye and therefore it's apparent the inherent passion that may have once been there isn't any longer, as these cars are now so affordable.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. I don't post any longer (except to punt cigarettes), and I never really contributed anything worthwhile, I'm the first to admit that, so this whole debate is pretty irrelevant to me as whatever happens to the site it really won't affect my life too much. I do think some of you should get out more instead of sitting at your computers moaning about the functionalities of an internet car forum though.
