as there 5 threads currently running (3 in general & 2 in feedback) re: the same thing it is very difficult to keep pressing F5

...i thought as it's friday, it would be a good idea to dolphin finance this shit and consolidate all existing threads into one easily manageable threads to discuss what happened last night.

(let this not turn into another kev/ash/admin attack please)

i'll start....what the f..!

Y'see, it all started with this thread, which was ridiculous. The site clearly needs some moderators at times, and people were volunteering only to be ignored by admin. This continued until the thread became locked having had five people report it, still not really sure why.

Chef then started this thread, and yet again (granted there was some silliness) it got locked, which didn't help anyone. We met three new members - Method Man joined up, as did Toadfish from Neighbours and Steph, also from Ramsay Street.

Carl's Hen then signed up.

All carried on happily, Kev then got home, banned the new accounts, Soulman and Gilesy. I had my membership revoked which I was not impressed by, turns out this happened by accident due to another stupid bug in the site.

Somehow I avoided a ban, even though I Method Man and Steph, and Gilesy and Soulman only played one role each. It's now all been sorted with Kev, but the fact remains that Ash doesn't seem to care about the site, which is frustrating for people like myself who enjoy it and want to see it thrive.

That's about it.

EDIT: Except that it completely proved the point that the Report Thread button is pointless as it just means someone will start a new one, the Ban is pointless as everyone just created another account, making people pay has only gone to p*ss people off and the forum has now reached a point where any thread that's vaguely fun gets locked down.

Someone's trying to be funny, they're just going around reporting any thread that's about anything. Which is f*cking retarded, as that's the reason it's spilled into about five threads rather than just staying neatly in one as it should always have done.

It rarely stays in one thread anyway Owain! I don't really see what all the fuss was about reading through everything this morning - pretty tame for this forum.

Because a lot of the time people are mid-discussion when it gets locked, and people have a right to talk on a forum. It's not up to me to decide when someone else's thread ends any more than it's up to them when mine end.

I would happily have kept the entire thing harmlessly and relevantly in that one thread, but people went around locking threads pointlessly. It's counter-productive and the idea should just be ditched. The people trying to actually make points and discuss things then get the blame for the multiple threads, when it's not their fault.

[bullet]Yes, I did ban the Toadfish, Steph, Hen etc accounts. There's a sticky saying that's exactly what'll happen when spurious accounts get created - and that their creators will also have action taken. I don't know how better to have handled this. If we do nothing, then everyone'll join the band wagon and we'll have all out anarchy, if I take action and post about it, it'll decend into being abuse being asked to justify my actions and if I do, as I did, some quiet admining I get accused of a conspiracy. My intention was to let Soulman and Gilesy (who's had this conversation before) stew for a while before unlocking - but that only works if they even have a modicum of respect... so I've already unlocked their accounts

Why are people still giving a shit, last night is old news and already boring. For the record, my 'attack' was not on admin failing to respond to the admin required post, it was to all of you lot not for not putting a suitable list together so Ash can picks some admins. Then the thread got out of hand because of no admins, proving that we still need some.

Anyway, its Friday, lets talk about something else.

Just to respond on this, Ash has got a short list and, last time i knew, was planning to ask some of the people who volunteered to take the role. It is moving... just quite slowly! We have to appreciate that Ash has a day job, a young family and lives on the other side of the world.

You need to decide what you want admins to do for you though as otherwise there's just going to be even more people trying to do their best and spoiling all the fun!
