James,have you ever driven/owned one?

Thought not so pip down you little twat Thumbs up

Book figure is 0-60 in 6.5 secs for the Cup so would/should wipe the floor with a 6.Sadly i think people need to leave their peugeot bubble and step into the real world.

Funnily enough my brother had one when I had a 6 ....... we both agreed the 6 was better in pretty much every respect, apart from extreme handling and even then the Clio was trying to kill you all of the time. Whistle

And if you want to tell me I live in a Pug bubble, I test drove 997C2S, GTR, IS-F, M3, Focus RS in the last 10 months and you can probably see what else I own elsewhere, the 6 is more fun than any of them. Thumbs up

If a Clio drives poorly at speed, then the suspension is blatently f*cked.

The rear shocks frequently fail, and provide a rather interesting driving style. You will travel down the road similar to a bin lid in a gale LOL

Dont get me wrong the 6/rallye is a fantastic hence me personally owning 5 examples in various states of tune and repairing/breaking many more

The 6 has a better driving position and is more "planted" but the Cup is more pure and feels much like my fav car ive owned my 205 gti Love plus its far better on the go-go juice

To be fair I will have to go with Roland on that the clio aint that bad

Yes I do own a 6 and yes I do love. my friend owns a 172 cup and it is a fantastic car. It killed my 6 off the lights. My love for pugs wills always take over. I have had the 1.6 205 gti and the 1.9 both great fun, I would put any one of them on the track and give you the satisfaction that you would need on a track. But if you want a little more my mate has a mi16 in his 205 and uses that on the track and it goes very well. For the money of a 205 today, I would just get that as a track car and put the rest of the money into something nice for the road.

I'd love to see what my 309 would be like with a 16v engine in it. There's a guy on 309oc who has a phase 1 5dr who's put a gti 6 engine in it and has turbo'd it as well for good measure. I don't think it's finished yet and has taken him a few years so far but it's set to be a lovely machine.

And as for the ladies arguing...it's all down to personal preference! Hence why I bought a 206 gti 180 over a clio 182...I could live with that interior for a start. Admitedly, on a track I know the 182 would win hands down, but how often am I on a track? Never been on with the 180!

I've got a cup packed 182 now and have had 2 6's before. The 182 is faster. Anyone telling you a 6 is faster is either lying or up against a f*cked 182, handling is better aswell

I've also had 44mpg out of it on a steady motorway drive in it too.

The 6 is however much better built, less chavvy, nicer looking and nicer inside with a better driving position and when i can afford a second car ill be getting another one Smile

I'd have a clio too. They're the only example of a classic hot hatch still being made today. I was close to swapping my 309 for a 172 about a year ago.

Oh, dont get me wrong, the Clio was my favourite FWD car before I bought the 6, I just think the 6 is a little more grown up. Maybe Im just getting old Big grin

For me the on limit handling of the Clio wasnt as predictable as the 6, I certainly wouldnt have lifted to chage line like I do in the Pug for instance. Pug is also better on long distances, I took mine to Le Mans and back once, I wouldnt have fancied that in a 172 Wink

^ oh the 6 is much more grown up. More 'refined' also if that word could ever be put to a Peugeot.

6's do feel lazy in comparison.

My clio 182 trophy was the most planted cars I've ever driven. The rears are much more stable than the 306's, and it gave me so much more confidence that I ever had with my 6.

Not sure how the full fat or cup options drive like though

Ariel Atoms aren't quite as good by all accounts although I've never driven one- - tht's what I've heard. But then again these types of cars are all completely adjustable in the suspension department so it could be a difference in geo set up's rather than one being better than the other - if that makes senseSmile
VX220's with standard settings are quite as good either but again you could set them up the same as you can a Lotus Elise/Exige (or vice versa) as they're on the same Chassis IIRC

I was kind of joking Tom anyway. There are plenty of cars out there that are quicker/feel better/are better to drive than a pug/DC2/Clio/Lotus etc It's what you feel good in that counts.

For me the Lotus ticks all the boxes and I could/can afford it so why not? Smile

On a side note you'll always crave more and more and more and more! Mine will be getting supercharged next year or the year afterSmile

But back on topic I'd have the DC2 over any 6 tbh. The 6 was/is a great car but they;re old hat now. The DC2. IMO was ahead of it's time. I've been in CUJ's DC5 and he's chased me in my Lotus and there really isn't much in them once rolling. Oh and CUJ's ~DC5 looks lush in the flesh tooThumbs up
