as the title says i cant get my cat from my mani off, tried undoing the 10mil nut from the spring loaded bolts (not sure of the real name) but it just spins, do you have to have a spanner on the top of it aswell? if so how do you get to it as i can only just get my finger onto it Confused

i have had a look through some threads but cant find my question

please help

lots of love knoxie Big grin

You need someone to hold the top of the bolt from the engine bay. Trying to do it all from the underneath is a nightmare.

Passenger side 1 is easier to get to than the drivers side. You will have to sqeeze your hand down the back of the manifold to get to the drivers side bolt so make sure the engine is cold.

Hope this helps

Gilsey's very good at doing them too. He rocked up to mine to swap one off his old car onto his new car so ended up doing 2 at once. Laugh He seemed happy though.

Once you get the knack it is ok. IT just takes a lot of fiddling the first time. I used LOTS of extension bars and did it with a ratchet through the subframe and a spanner on top.

I do it from underneath on my back. left arm up around wishbone and anti roll bar, other over rack. I use a 6sided 3/8 on the top to get good grip, and then a 10mm socket on the bottom. I advise getting the sockets on correctly, then go guns blazing until undone. once the spring loosens and the cat drops, you lose easy access to the head of the bolt. If you round it off, nut splitter through spring works. Good luck

6 sided socket or spanner is the way forward. A lot less likely to round off then. Easier underneath I thought.

Before you say anything Ash yes I have done this quite a few times thank you very muchRazz

I went from underneath last time, but had the benefit of using a proper car ramp which made it quite easy to see what i was doing.

I've obviously failed in my question, did you get a new fitting kit, irrespective of what you are fitting?
It's not recommended to use the old bolts and ring gasket on a new cat, old cat, new de-cat or old de-cat.
You can get them from Peugeot for about £13 iirc.

^ Nearer £20. Last one I bought about 4 years ago was £18 something. Peugeot didn't have it in stock, so I got one from Citroen, which was actually cheaper yet in the same PSA packet.

The pattern ones are much cheaper but inferior quality.

To be fair for the hassle of fitting it, do it once, and do it properly with a genuine Peugeot one. Buy cheap, buy twice.
