Cheers, the brakes are unbelievable, i never thought there was anything wrong with the standard setup but there is a world of difference going from this car to my diablo on standard calipers/discs with ds2500's, just dont have confidence when pushing on with them anymore. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

Lmao, that touch is top class.Excellent work on the machine work Steve, looking very sexual. And I know what you mean about doing a track car and getting on the property ladder, hence the slow progress on the Dimma, I've just bought a house with my fiancé. ________________________________________ Dimma + Gt35 turbo =Solid rear beam mounts £130 07889376885 Dan |

Small update, the car got me to the 'ring and did nine laps, bit of a misshap on one of the laps caused the exhaust to crack where the downpipe goes into the front of the centre box, didnt take long for it to spread all the way round the joint and me have no silencing in the exhaust. That was on my fourth lap but the car kept plodding on and even got me home. I'm pretty sure i was down on torque/power after the split but the car managed to shame a few other faster cars and allowed me to set a new personal best. The drive home was awful, no silencing, really hot day with no windows or cooling, occasionally stuck in the odd bit of traffic. I'm pretty sure i wasnt far off melting. IMG_2455 by Steve Count, on Flickr This is the lap that i reckon caused the exhaust to split. Carried a bit much speed towards a bmw that then looked like it was going to cut me up, it was either the kerb or the bmw so i opted for the kerb. I'm certain they weren't keen on the idea of a shonky old Peugeot overtaking them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMLURXnGwQM This lap has a couple of 106's in, one of which is pretty nippy. Anybody know the owners? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoJ_GZ0AO4Q My joint fastest lap, managed an 8:35 BTG which im fairly chuffed about, still a bit of room for improvement too, gives me something to aim for next year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCmU-aVTVKU The other videos are still uploading, i'll put links up for them once they are done. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

The other videos are finally up for anyone that's bothered.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMGY7JzNYDU Tractor boy impression at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IamXaPHfbM A bit of a play with an Impreza. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PblswR_9nVc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AdrGosD454 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYJDqtqP3go Another 8:35BTG, but a very awful Adenauer Forst. Not going to put up the first lap i did, it was a 9:01 but it shows an accident which i'd rather not put on the internet. The guy was up and ok though so it can't have been too bad. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

Took a bit of a whack on that kerb for sure, he should've really moved over, indicated etc... though I'm not entirely convinced of your track etiquette! :-/Looks like she's running quite hot in those vids - up near 100*c water temps most of the way through. Enjoyed watching those! The only way i can get past people is by carrying as much speed as i can towards them, the M5 would never have moved over for me if i didnt make my presence felt. I agree it's not good etiquette but the fact is that over there there isnt any drivers briefings etc explaining to keep right and indicate for faster cars, and not many of the Germans will want to let a French car past. The oil temps peaked around 120, i think its the angle of the camera that makes the coolant look hot, from my view it sat around 85-90. The weather was very hot though which didnt help the car temps. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

I was there with Ste last weekend, absolutely epic time with the lads, the best one we have had over there in the past 5 years I have been on track with the a lot of the fast track lot from this site and can honestly say this car now handles like the best of them. 8.30's is fantastic from a standard power 306. The cornering speeds in parts as you can see from the vid is phenomenal. The front end grip even when power sliding at 110+ is crazy And as far as track etiquette goes I think it's perfectly acceptable. Those bas**rds over there hate pulling over for 15 year old French s**t boxes and rightly so (how embarrassing) But if your lapping fast your lapping fast regardless of what car your in And they should get out the way, simples. I dare say mines even worse ________________________________________ Team Astor Grey Supercharged GTI 6 |

Cheers Chris, since i've washed the car my 'repair' doesnt stand out as much as it looks in that photo on the previous page, so i reckon i can get away with keeping this bumper on. If you've never been to the 'ring it's well worth just setting up a standing order for like £15 a week into a disused savings account, then each year you'll have £750 to chuck at a weekend over there, worth every penny! ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

Nope, didn't want any extra weight so did this:[Image lost] I stick £30 away a week, that covers both cars insurances and most of the annual 'ring trip. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

Been a while since the last update, nothings really new with the car but i did the first trackday of the year this week. The day before the trackday i took the car out for the first time in a while, i noticed the indicators went a bit mental when indicating right and using the brakes. I guessed it was an earth issue, when i got home the earths looked in good condition at the rear end of the car so i took the offside rear light out. It looks like it's seen better days. IMG_2610 by Steve Count, on Flickr I've ordered a pair of new rear lights, hopefully they will be in better condition then these and sort that issue out. The car ran fine most of the day at Cadwell, the morning started off damp, then it started to spit with rain during the sighting laps, which then got heavier during my first session out and kept on raining most of the morning. Towards the end of the morning the rain died off and the track slowly started to dry out during the afternoon. Unfortunately my go pro battery died around dinner time, so i only have footage from the wet morning. Here's some of the morning sessions footage: Session 1 Session 3 Session 4 Session 5 There's no point uploading session 2 as i was only out for 3 laps, my windscreen was too misted up and theres only around 3 working filaments working now, so that wasn't clearing up and my mate span off so i wanted to check he was ok. Loads of cars span off during the day, quite a few did significant damage, fortunately my mate didn't hit anything. I didn't get any pictures but a golf pretty much ripped the front end to bits. Because it was so slippery in the morning i decided to practice my heel-toe'ing, i think by the end of the day i was reasonable at it, i find it quite hard because i have size 12 clown feet, which in my opinion makes it awkward. There was another gti6 there, a nice moonstone blue one, which i've seen there before and that was going well all day. I got talking to the owners who i believe pop on here from time to time, but i didn't get their username. We had a couple of good sessions on track together quite well matched pace wise, unfortunately my go pro had gone flat by then. There was also an xsara vts which was going quite well. On my last session of the day i managed to snap my exhaust again, i think it was the mountain that it doesnt like as the engine will be flapping all over the place with the car jumping and spinning the wheels. It cut the session shorter than i wanted but it was still a decent day out. Can't wait for Oulton park next month now. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

phillipm wrote: Weld a strap against the shell of the backbox to spread the stress. Thats my plan, well i say my plan, my plan was to get you to sort it as my dads welder is pants. I think i'm going to get this exhaust welded up with some straps, then maybe over winter get a new system made up with a 2.5" bore all the way through as this one is mis matched, the centre box is 2" bore, and the back end is whatever magnexes are (looks much bigger). I'm toying with the idea of getting something like a Focus RS cat to put in the new system so it can handle the power and what not when i eventually get boost. Would you be interested in making the new system Phill? I want it to be as quiet as possible so i won't have any issues with noise restrictions at trackdays, especially as i want it supercharged in the next couple of years. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
