Yeah, not a problem, be a little while until the workshop power is sorted though.

Thanks.

I'm only after a charger itself, want to have a crack at mounting it all and what not myself. Don't think you'd be happy to take the little amount i'm prepared to pay for a charger. LOL

Thanks Tim, your xsara held it's own very well. Thumbs up

I got the exhaust off today and bird-s**tted it back together, hopefully it will hold itself together for Oulton park. I cut a bit of box section up and used that to brace the shell of the box to the pipe.
As you can tell from the pictures i'm not a welder. Laugh

One of the rear hangers had started to come away again, had issues with it before, so i had a go at sorting that out whilst i was at it.

How did you get on at Cadwell mate? Did you see my mate in his DC5 Integra?

I briefly spoke to him and he said you parked up next to him in service area, but he didnt see you on track.

I'll have seen him, there were quite a few Integras there. I was talking to one of the guys briefly but that was about it. I made them all chuckle at the end of the day when i set off home with no silencing and my exhaust hanging down. Laugh

Other than snapping the exhaust and my go pro going flat by dinnertime it was a pretty good day, it would have been nicer if it had been dry all day but there was a good couple of dry hours at the end of the day and the wetness meant the R888's didnt wear out too much.

Little update, went to Oulton park the other day. The car ran pretty faultlessly all day, had a little issue getting it into 2nd whilst locked up at one point and the gearbox feels even notchier than before so i'll probably source another and stick that on during winter.

I fitted a couple of cheap nasty demisters from ebay before the trackday since i seem to have blown almost all the filaments in the windscreen, these heaters do the job eventually, but they are only really a temporary measure until i sort out a new smaller heater matrix.

How old is the windscreen? Has anything in particular happened that would damage the filaments or do they just not last very long?

It's about 1-2 years old now, had it done just after i'd painted the interior.
To be honest i think it's the alternator that caused the filaments to go, i think it's kicking out too much voltage as it was over 16v from memory when i checked ages ago with the engine idling.

I've got a new little matrix sorted already, its for a kit car and was only £8, i just need to make an enclosure for it and mount a couple of pc fans to it then plumb it in, just havent had time to make a start yet and didn't want to rush/bodge it to get it ready in time.

Thanks mate, was nice to meet you too. Just a shame your passenger session wasnt too long.

Got a few plans up my sleeve, just waiting on some steel coming into work before i make a start.

I'm going to go back to a standard alternator, probably get rid of the power steering pump (maybe go for epas from a 106 or the like). Maybe fit an xsara rack if i find one for sale.
One of the drive shafts is knocking now so i'll replace that when i change the gearbox.

A few little suspension tweaks are lined up too, just need to design some bits and machine them when i get time.

There feels to be some play in the engine mounts when changing gear harshly, so i'm probably going to make a solid bottom mount.

Hopefully a new exhaust system too, this one goes down to 2" in places and much bigger in others.

After that i'd like to either stick a high comp engine in with throttle bodies and cams, or slap an Eaton M62 on it, but thats a long way off yet. At the moment it's quick enough for what it is and most importantly its reliable enough to drive to and from the track. Next year i'm hoping to trailer it to tracks so can afford a little less reliability.

My old 6 had a 2.25" straight through stainless middle section with scorpion back box and decat, probabley the best exhaust i have had. Awesome sound and sound tested it Croft came back at 93.3db and Donnington was 86db dont know how they were both different?

How do you find it with the rear diffuser on? noticeably different?

Small update time.

I've bought and fitted a phase 1 Xsara VTS rack.

IMG_2827 by Steve Count, on Flickr

I swapped the gti6 ram over to that rack, poured in as much power steering fluid as i could then fitted this to keep it all in.

IMG_2828 by Steve Count, on Flickr

I was never happy with the old aux belt setup how i had it, so thought i would go back to a standard alternator and fit an electric power steering pump, so i bought one, when it arrived i felt the weight of it and immediately decided that i would probably never fit one of them to the car, hence the lack of power steering now. Laugh

I've made some spacers to help correct the geometry between the hubs and the steering rack, but that little project is still not complete, i need to get/make some longer track rods or make some adjusters so there is enough thread being used on the rose joints.

I've also been working on making some tubular wishbones so i can have some more caster, since i didn't really want to start chopping away too much where the topmounts mount and moving them backwards. I'm only half way through developing them at the moment and wanted to wait until they are finished before putting up any pictures but i said i'd do an update this weekend so here they are.
They still need a fair bit of work / re-designing of certain parts, but on the whole they are getting there.

Like i said, there is still a lot of work to be done before i'm happy with the setup, i did a test fit of them today as shown in the pictures and i've got a few alterations to make, but on the whole i'm pretty pleased with the progress. Smile

Won't be producing any more of these once mine are made, ridiculous amount of time and effort goes into them, plus i don't want to be liable if any failed and killed anybody. LOL

Edit: I may have about 4 metres of CDS for sale in the near future though, i could only buy it in 6 metre lengths. Laugh
