I think the bearing kit you'll need is part number 5132.62 (two off). - Best check that with someone in the know before you order though, i don't to be giving out wrong info. LOL

Then from a bit of looking on servicebox i think you'll need two of each of these:

5153.10
6963.10
6933.19
5153.11
5153.12
5174.03
5179.10
5179.14
5154.10
5154.09

I can supply you with both 6963.10 and 6933.19 since they only came in packs of 20, and i don't intend to rebuild my beams another 9 times. Laugh

So a bit of an update..

I have started stripping that rear beam I have, getting there slowly. Have bought some bilt hamber deox-c in an attempt to clean it all up a bit. I will post progress when there is some Laugh

Recently bought some GrpN engine mounts in an attempt to stop the engine moving so much.

I assume this is ok? No cracks etc, just seems a bit strange theres no paint there?

Also unsure about the clear bit of plastic, half of this was broken too. I assume this isn't OE and was done by a previous owner?

Now onto the gearbox mount..

And back together again, all good.....

Or not..

Car decided that it wouldn't start and had no power. No dash, no lights, nothing..

Connected up on the battery pack and got this..

Think moving the wires in front of battery box upset it. So pulled the apart, tidied with electrical tape, cleaned up connector and batter terminals and now it's fine again. f**king thing Laugh

So nervously I get in the car to take it for a quick test drive. The mounts have done an awesome job. Car feels so much better on the gear changes and can now change into second at more than 3k revs! Smile (anyone who came out in it at pugfest will know how bad it was)

So, may be slow progress, but getting there.

Now I'm no expert, but it would appear someone's nan has repaired your engine mount in the past.

Laugh my ass off

I was thinking similar myself, but to be honest don't care too much as it feels so much better than before Smile

Nope Laugh my ass off

Its been on the list to do, but seems as soon as I touch/move any wires something breaks, so I've not trusted myself/the car yet Laugh

Thanks Smile

Yeah its different to what I have seen on here. Am I right in thinking it is ok to leave for the time being as it hasnt cracked the cradle?

Has helped no end changing the mount, had loads of engine movement before I was fully expecting to see the cradle in bits to be honest.

Got myself some Deox-C to aid in cleaning up my rear beam and parts ready to be built into a shiny new beam. The stuff really does work wonders.

5 minutes with a wire brush, then left for a few days in a weaker than suggested formula.

From this:

To this:

Just need to get time to finish taking apart the beam so I can give the same treatment to the rest of the parts.

Deox-C is amazing stuff, you'll want to get them sprayed up sharpish before any surface rust starts appearing though, doesn't take long.

Yeah getting it done asap.

Still unsure on whether to paint myself (rattle can or hammerite?)

Or get them done at the local powdercoaters?

Powdercoating will look infinitely better and will last longer, but cost more. I did mine myself and they're fine, depends how good you want it to look. Not exactly a part you see all that often.

Exactly, I couldnt care less if I'm honest. A friend of mine knows a powdercoater and rekon my beam parts will be about £40 - £50.

If I do it by rattle can, its not going to be much cheaper than that, and means me doing the work myself. If powder coating is going to be that cheap, may as well get it done.

Also, thanks Owain Thumbs up

I have ordered my "man up kit" (parts to remove my ABS). Just need to get a bias valve, but unsure which to get at the minute.

Ah good man. Just do be careful of the bias valves, make sure they come with adapters to make them M10 fitting as many aren't as standard.

Yeah if you don't already have primer and paint, get them powder coated. I bought loads of primer from Bilt Hamber a couple of years ago, so it wouldn't be any new outlay to spray up any new parts, but if you need to buy it all then you don't save nearly as much money.

It's good fun having no ABS, especially on a wet day at Rockingham. I had my slowest ever "crash" through some cones coming up to the last hairpin, the marshall was looking in my direction and I was looking at him as I locked up about three times, and just slid forwards knocking a cone flying.

He had the look of "thanks you bas**rd, I have to go get that now" and I had a face of "yeah, sorry about that. Worst crash ever."

You'd happily drive around knowing your entire rear beam was attached to the car by a bolt through 2mm ally? LOL

Passive rear steer FTW, until metal fatigue drops your rear beam on a roundabout.
