I have been getting the urge to do a bit of work on the Porsche now it is getting a bit warmer.
In order to do that I need to tidy out my shed.
One of the things that needs moving out is the front wing I got to replace the one that got damaged when my gazeebo took off.

Yesterday I got home before it got dark so I whipped the old wing off and stuck it on a bench

it left me with this

Just to make it easier for me today it is pi55ing down.
I put it on anyway

looks ok, might give it a polish if it ever stops raining.

I have also been working through those annoying little things that you might be tempted to leave, because they are not annoying enough to spur you into action.
Well I made the discision to do all these things, starting with one of the horns not working and the seat belt adjuster not being adjustable.
I got the bits from Carl off that car with a tree shaped dent in the front.

These are the old ones

Still a few more bits to do, but only minor niggles, boot light doesn't work, stuff like that.

I know this is all dull now, but.......

I was at Carl's the other week having a cup of tea.
He had a standard exhaust for not daft money.
Mine has a scorpion which was on when I got it.
It is a bit noisy but not too bad.
I thought that there is no point taking a stainless exhaust off for a mild steel one, the stainless one should last for years.
Well, it started making an odd whistling noise at the weekend whilst I was on my way to pick my daughter up.
The whistle became a full on leak by the time I got home.

The strengthener had come adrift from the box, and the end cap on the box had developed a split.
I cut off the strengthener to get a look at it.

I welded up the split.

As I don't want to keep welding it every week I decided to beef it up a bit.
I had a bit of stainless in the shed, which I cut to shape.

Stuck it on the end.

Replaced the stiffener.

And put another stiffener on the top for good measure.

Just got to put it back on the car now.

I took my daughter back in Mrs Tea's Audi A4, which has twice the miles as mine but not a single rattle or squeek.
They know how to make 'em, the Jerrys.
It is absolutely sh!t to drive though, totally anodyne and uninvolving.
The seats knacker my back too.

Hello chaps, I still have the old rattler.

The Heated rear window has never worked since I have had it because the tab where you plug the wire in was snapped off the glass.

I got hold of a 3 phase lid off of here.
The wires had been cut off almost flush with the lid so I swapped the wiring from the old lid.
That was a PIA

I decided to make it a phase 2.75 by fitting the old wash wipe system because the new one looked cheap and rubbish.

Sadly the spoiler had seen better days and looked terrible so I had that painted.

After that I just used it.

In the course of which I met a hare on the road out of the village.

Needless to say, neither the hare or my bumper survived the contretemps. No

As it took out one of the blanks

I decided to put new fogs in.

I thought that if I had a nice shiney bumper the grille would look scabby, so I got it, and a new pair of hockey sticks painted up.

Today I put it all together.

You may have spotted the deliberate mistake.
I got it all on an lined up then stood back to admire it.
That was when I noticed the reflector was on the p**s.Sad
I had to take it all back off again so I can send the faulty lamp back.
So everything is just finger tight ready to come back off again.
what a ball ache.Roll eyes

Hello chaps, all the news on the Poker is here, not done much though.
http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=96138&page=1

So I got the fog light sorted by Carl, car built back up, back on the road.

I have done less than 100 miles in it.

The mother in law came to visit, backed into my car.

Now my freshly painted grille and bumper need painting again and I need a new bonnet.

Have a guess how I feel?Angry

Hello chaps, I am still alive and kicking and the Peugeot is still going strong.

I must admit that I did loose a lot of enthusiasm when the mother in law ran into my freshly painted front end though.Roll eyes

Anyway, I have gotten hold of another bonnet but I need to get it painted before it goes on.

It recently started to make a squeeking noise which was quite annoying but I cured that with some of these;

I think it took about 2 hours all in which was equally divided between spannering and looking for the pulleys which Mrs Tea had hidden.

Not the most difficult job I have ever done but if my fingers had been three inches longer it would have helped.Big grin

I do have the crank pulley too but I am not going to fit that until I do the cambelt.

Not had any jobs in Leicester though so it must have saved you a fortune in teabags.

Porsche is still a project yes, I have been collecting a few bits and pieces for it.

Well this bonnet that I got to replace the one the mother in law fecked up has been gathering dust, so today I thought it would be a good Idea to put it on the car.

Easy job I thought, have it done in half an hour.

The bonnet is off a three phase and came bare.

No probs, I'll swap all the bits off my bent phase two bonnet.

Turns out that the screenwash nozzles are further away from the 'screen on a P3 so the pipes don't reach, and the soundproofing pad is different too.

Nothing is ever straightforward, is it?Roll eyes
