which you may have seen here, I have done a fair bit of reading on the this board.
I have to say that I was quite surprised at the number of threads about cars being broken for the smallest thing. 'breaking my 6, ashtray full' and suchlike.
I paid good money for my car (peanuts in real terms, but good for a car with a 'full ashtray'), because it had obviously been loved, and was just in need of a bit more.
I did think about rebuilding the engine myself, but got as far as pricing pistons at the dealers
I got in touch with Carl (mechanical repairs) about an engine.
'I have just the thing for you' he says, 'the old motor out of my Rallye. 50k ish miles, head ok & new head gasket, crank ok new main & big end shells, new water pump, belt & tensioners. Yours for....
'One million dallars!'
I collected it today.
As it is that valuable I had to put it in the house.
Even Mrs Tea did not complain about it being in the house when I told her how special it was
I am going to put a new clutch and cable on it before it goes in, and whatever else I might think of in the meantime.
There you are, perhaps the title should have been,
'6 reprieved, ashtray being emptied'
