build it up with rocks and clay, rocks and clay, rocks and clay.

did you expect it to not get blown away, blown away ,blown away

ok i made the last bit up. After watching the chaos a gust of wind caused at the french car show a couple of years back if it were my pride and joy it would not be going no where near one of them gazebo things

Oh no that's not good!

Our next door neighbours trampoline (the big ones) from the back garden flew over our house and about 30 foot across the road during a really stormy night a year or so ago......so ripping up a gazebo'ish shape is easily done, did it rip the screws out too? Or just tear the fabric Mr Tea?

Fabric will survive.
It pulled the screws out of the floor on two legs and snapped the feet off the other two.

Spent this morning re building the tent.

Anyway, thought I should start putting the front end together.

I got the long a/c pipe, a new Teclim brand one off ebay for fifty quid.

Here it is half fitted

The short one I had to swallow and get from the dealers

Carl G sorted me out with a new condenser

so I stuck all those on.

Pipes on underneath.
Re using the old brackets on that Taclim A/C pipe was a PITA.

There is a rain shield which goes on the air intake near the windscreen.
Mine had been butchered by some alarm fitters.
I spent half an hour trying to carefully remove one from a scrapper at Carl's but it split at the last hurdle.

So I bought a new one.

Which is now fitted.

That's all I have done, fixing the tent fecked the day for me.

done a little bit this afternoon.

I put the wing, bonnet & bumper back on, headlights in.
I checked the bulbs, PO has fitted blue sidelight bulbs.
How gay is that? Roll eyes

I know, it went dark by the time I had finished.

Got new front discs & pads on.
Only had to drill & tap one retaining screw. (I didn't snap it BTWBig grin )

Just to make me feel good I put on the Total oil sticker.

Filled the oil, started filling the coolant when like a nob I dropped the bleed screw out of the heater hose.
The fekin thing has just vanished completely Unsure

It is not a cap, more like a plastic bolt.

The main man Carl G (mechanical_repairs) sent me this today.

I can't even begin to tell you how much help Carl has been to me throughout this project.

Thanks mate, I appreciate it.

I'll see you right when I get my new specs.

I am on the lookout for an ignition switch because the old one has been butchered by some alarm fitting to55er

I got some of these today, they seem to be de rigueur around here.

on the label it says they are 'lot obturateurs'

Remarkable?

I think not-
that Carl would do anything to be associated with such a top class project.

Don't like the foglight covers, think its too much black with the car being black and the fogs help to break it up, they look great on other colour gti-6's though, The rest of the car I like though Cool

I think you might be right.

I will have to get some p3 fogs at some point and try them.

I am replacing the discs & pads.
Fronts are already on.
When I started the back ones I thought I should take the caliper off and make sure everything is free.
The brake pipes on the back didn't come off very well, nuts seized on the pipe, so I thought I had better make some new ones.

Used the vice in the back of my van to do it.

Old and new

I got the passenger side done before it went dark and started raining

It seems to fit ok.
I just copied the old one, but that wasn't an original.
Should get the other one on in the morning then bleed them up.
I am using ATE super blue for two reasons.
I have a tin of it and when you are changing from standard fluid you know it is changed when the blue stuff comes out.
I have a pair of new handbrake cables too, because at a tenner each it is almost criminal not to change them at this point.
Hope it is not pi55ing down tomorrow.
