I have fallen well behind with this job now.
I had two weeks working down south then two weeks on holiday.
I'm back now.

I was going to paint some of the bracketry before putting the engine in but after five minutes rubbing it down I thought balls to this.
I took it to the powder coaters.

These bits.

I was too keen to fit them when they came back so no picture.
You can see them when they are in.

I put the motor in yesterday.
It only just went through the door when I brought it out of the house.

Sadly scratched the crossmember when fitting the engine.

Standard air box.

The old engine was probably not helped by this induction kit sucking sh*t off the road.

Powder coated bits fitted.
G/box mount.

Top mount

Front brackety things.

Fitted some new P bushes

Need to replace the rack boot before I re fit the subframe.

That is as far as I got because we went out last night.
Today I have been doing the flue on the boiler.

It had rotted away.

So I made a new one which goes all the way through the wall with no joins.

Rendered the wall behind it and filled the holes to keep out the rodents.

It has p*ssed down today anyway so I wasn't too keen to go outside to work on the car.
My daughter has come to visit too, I have made her look at this thread.
Luckily she is too polite to tell me to FO so she sat and looked at it all.Big grin

Not much point plastering behind the boiler, I'm hoping that I don't have to look behind it for a fair few years.

Big spanner is still there, I have not put it away yet.

Mrs Tea is obviously very understanding of your needs. Mrs B wouldn't allow an engine in the house, even though Mr and Little B would love to have one kicking about to play with in the lounge Sad

I replaced the steering rack gator tonight.
I struggled to get it on at first because the track rod is twice the size as the hole in the end of the gator.
I had a look around and found the end off of a mastic tube.
I stuck a punch in the track rod then slid the mastic nozzle on.
I had to lube it up with rubber grease to slide the gator over it.

It is on now.

I have got the front subframe back on and new gear linkages and quadrant as the rubber ball was falling off.

It is coming together now.

For a pensioner with a hotdog on his head, you have quite the fascination with Peugeots!

Sorry for the tangent Mr Tea, please don't beat me.

Of course it's not dear, you keep telling yourself that. You're young and agile Wink

No offense taken, what makes I'm not like that? Wink

Mr Tea - out of interest why are you keeping the standard airbox? Looks like you're going to a hell of a lot of trouble with everything else, I would've thought it'd just be easier to slap in an induction kit of some kind? Small point in the grand scheme of things I know, but just wondered.

I am building it to standard spec.
The induction kit it had on f***ed the engine up.

Has anyone dyno tested a standard airbox back to back with an induction kit?
I'll bet there is not a mountain of difference.

Anyway, I have my 911 to fit all the 'go faster stuff toWink

Oh no I agree it'd make no performance increase, just a boyish noise thing I guess.

Respect on the Porsche, love those old skool 911's. Have you managed to complete a lap without it breaking down yet? Wink

I came home today and instead of seing this

I saw this

My tent which was screwed to the floor had flown off up the yard.

That was bad enough but on it's way it took a chunk out of my front wing.

I know it is a sh!t picture but I was more concerned with getting the tent back in place.
Trust me, it is a fair sized gouge it has made.

You can also trust me when I say I am thoroughly Pi55ed off with it. Angry

Unlucky mate.
It could be worse though, you could have had your rubstrips stolen and have plenty of scratches where the scrotes went at them with a screwdriver Black eye
