drill fg is ok just need to take your time. best to use a dremmal if you have one and grind it. fg can be painted just fine with the correct prep, ensure you remove all wax is the hardest bit.

it's only a track 306 so paint isn't crucial, i might just do it black so it looks tidy-ish

i think i could just drill the bonnet 3x holes per pin [about 2mm holes?] like the normal bonnet.. and just put a big washer behind so they can screw into that and clamp against it, pulling force back against the pin Unsure (think that's what phillipm meant). the washer would be big enough for the pin to pass through it..

how do you mean grind it? it's only 3x holes per pin, not aerocatch pins, just normal ones

how is the wax removed? is this not done before hand or is it something i'd need to do? never messed with FG to be honest LOL got a glass fibre battery box but that was easy to drill / etc

i use expensive caranuba wax which is hard as release agent. nothing sticks to it. that why its used for the epoxies in carbon fibre. i can remove it for u and machine polish a black bonnet for a little extra just to cover the polish and time. if not acetone or thinners will remove it. then just rub the bonnet down with 400 grit wet and dry, used wet with washing up liquid wash, dry and then paint. as normal really.

that scares me already, is it a massive process for you to do? i would literally kill the bonnet. i would be prepared to give you some extra to do that for us Yes

LOL

It's not that hard, panel wipe'll take it off, so will thinners, acetone is faster though, you'll not hurt the epoxy underneath unless you left it in a bath of acetone for a day...
Grinding the hole with a dremel will get you a smoother hole than a cheap drill bit will - the edges are prepped for steel so they're not actually very sharp (but if you've got one the right size, fetch it with you and I'll sharpen it for FG use when you come down, then you can just blast through with that).
And dab a little epoxy on after you've drilled the holes to seal the edges of the fibres, stops moisture getting in (And for those of you having carbon bonnets, stops the carbon setting up a battery and eating the aluminium bonnet pins)

its really not hard to prep for paint. just best to remove most of the wax with some thinners and a rag before u rub down. ok when ur rubbing down u will move the wax about. as phill said its easy to do. but if u want a polished black bonnet no need to paint it then.
