Subject: Ultimate Road/Track Rear Beam

Ok so i have recently been thinking about what sort of suspension/handling setup i am going to end up with on the Rallye and have this in my head:

Front:
- Bilstein B8's with Eibach Springs. Lowers by about 35mm.
- Rich W's Roller bearing wishbones
- Maybe some of Phils fancy droplinks

Rear:
- Standard Pug dampers
- Ash's hybrid Arb
- Xsara 21mm Torsion Bars
- Rebuild of beam at same time with standard pug stuff.
- Solid rear beam mounts

I want the car to be for the road but very capable as soon as it steps on track while ofcourse not costing the earth to complete and maintain.

Does anyone think there is anything i have missed out/can improve on before i kick things into motion?

Solid rear beam mounts possibly, depends if you like the rear-steer.

I have grown to like the rear-steer but something tells me i will enjoy it more without it Yes

If you can build in some more negative camber front and rear you will find more grip when cornering. Wink

Depends how much you have, 3 degees is a little much as you will get premature wear on the shoulders of your tires. However if you can pick up some adjustable top mounts you can mix and match as much as you want. Then for the rear if you can get an extra degree of camber using Bridgecraft Engineerings trailing arms while you refurb your beam (Ideal time) then you will be laughing.

Good thoughts guys, am liking them Yes

My wheels are already taken care of although i could possible do with a spare set, have to be 16" or bigger though, fletch?

Brakes are taken care of with my AP Racing setup plus i have a set of carbone lorraine pads to slide into them for track work Ninja

Im up for some adjustable top mounts as i dont think they cost the earth Yes

May be a phase 2 addition though, however i cant rebuild the beam and have neg camber on just the back Doh

As already mentioned, I would possibly go for some solid rear beam mounts and perhaps the Bridgecraft Engineering negative camber stub-axle mod.

I would also get some better dampers - I don't think the OEM ones will be up to the job if you're increasing the spring rate with the thicker TB's etc.

I'm starting to build a new rear beam for mine as it's completely goosed.

Specification is:

- Bridgecraft Engineering modified trailing arms / stub axles - 3 degrees of negative camber
- 21mm torsion bars
- Ash Hargreaves hybrid ARB
- Solid rear beam mounts
- KW V2 rear dampers
- Will rebuild with standard bearings / seals etc

Solid beam mounts with ash's arb makes a hell of a difference also with lighter wider wheels. Roller bearing with xsara trailing arms would be nice also thats next on my list Ninja

seems like I did really good with suspension mods yet as my present suspension od list is nearly the same

need a hybrid ARB from Ash, and AST topmounts

and perhaps some solid rear beam mounts Ninja
