Not good Chris No

What are you doing to these engines? Dunno

This is the first low-boost conversion i've seen fail like this, there's members on here with 150K engines that get tracked and are fine Unsure

Have you definitely remembered to fit the restrictor ring? Just in case your high-boosting it Laugh

Did you sort your valve timing out? If this wasn't rectified quickly, valves would 'kiss' the pistons, bend, not seat properly which could explain the low compression.

I would also plug it in, make sure there's no running problems or issues with the sensors/wiring.

It would be worth sticking a gas analyser up the exhaust too, and take it through the rev range, make sure you've got no fuel supply issues.

The only way you would get the combustion temperatures high enough to melt a piston on a low-boost car would be very lean running at high load, which would subject the engine to sustained det.

Cheers
Rich

Well my mate who does rally prep thinks it could be a problem with my ECU, so dunno if im worth while getting an ecu sent down to you so you can map it again for me, as it wasnt my ecu i got you to map rich, could be a problem with it.

Timing wasnt out at all, had 2 plugs the wrong way round and this was the issue there, was running sweet as a nut but now its stalling, struggles to idle then when you rev it, drives ok, bit blue smoke when driving.

restrictor ring deff in.

think the engine was probly f*cked before i stuck it in to be honest, drove ok up the road but probly was on the way out, and thats why ecosse didnt keep it for an engine conversion or that.

needing a new crank and oil pump!!
heres a few pics of my first engine as it started to get strippe the day.

Chris;

It's unlikely to be the ECU - they tend to either work or they don't.

It's definitely got the right software on it - if it had an OEM file on it, it would run like a bag of shit, and if it had high-boost software on it, it would bog down at the top end due to excessive fuelling.

The struggling/stalling - did both engines do this? It's probably more down to the lack of compression and manifold vacuum at idle, rather than the ECU.

I do test all ECU's before they are sent out, but you're welcome to send it back for me to look at. I could put a different low-boost program on it for you if you want to try something else.

Cheers
Rich
