Need to do the forward beam mounts on mine.
Been really nervous about cracking on at it myself, seeing everything nice and clean make me think to push on, a sterling effort this, going to be mint, you should be proud Thumbs up

No reason to be nervous, this was the first time I've tackled a rear beam. There were 2 brake lines to undo and the ABS sensors and then the mount nuts in the boot. Just take care whilst lowering it to the ground - its a bit awkward since the weight is towards the back, you might end up with bent baffle plates like I did LOL

The wheel arches were given a good coat of hammerite black after treating the rusty patches. I've given mine a coat of waxoyl after too just to add another layer of protection

phenemanal work mate! it's really impressive. the paint work is spot on - the engine bay especially looks really smart. i'm overhauling my own engine at the moment, but i'm not concentrating on the aesthetics as much as you -wish i had now though! although i do want my engine bay to look nice and clean like yours. keep up the good work man!

I don't fancy adding the cost of all the parts and paint up!! I'd imagine I could have bought another one but where's the fun in that LOL
Besides another car wouldn't have all new suspension on it.
Fired it up last night and all is well thankfully - Its off to get the wheels re-aligned tomorrow so good job it did!!

Got the rear wheels painted last night and its ready for a wash. Need to polish all the paintwork and apply the new stickers from Rick but other than that I'm pretty much done

Well done, all's good then.
Yeah its worth spending money on it when you know its all fresh and new, and if you ever needed to sell then you would get a very high price for it. Im going to be doing this sort of work on my 205 soon and i ant bothered how much it costs, it'll be brand new just about and rust free etc...

Top work...

Top work mate, really enjoyed reading this.

What you essentially have is a brand new 306 rallye and i bet its a dam sight cheaper than buying a brand new one when they first came out (16k??)

Now i know you'll be bored after its completed.....dont fancy doing another black rallye do you?? lol

Really wish i had the time/room/tools to take something like this on.

Might go through all the receipts after a beer or 2 and add them up - I know I've pretty much got a 'new' rallye for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Will get some more pictures up shortly...
I was about to after I spent 2.5 hours washing, drying, polishing, and waxing the car but then the heavens opened Angry

It looks much better and I prefer the wheels now being black with a silver rim. I went out in it earlier this evening to get it fueled up ready for getting the wheels aligned and they certainly need doing - you can feel the car trying to pull when accelerating. Cant wait to drive it once its been done though. Its being done at demon tweeks - has anyone any experience of wheel alignment there??

More piccy's as promised...
I've got the bumper finally mounted since I'm happy with the oil cooler location. I've directed the induction to the back of the LH foglight blank for now to see how it goes regarding water pick-up etc.
Bumper and grille fitted:

Another view of the engine from induction side:

Took it out for a blast and it feels soooo much better than it did before. I've had the tracking done (which was miles out) and they (just) managed to get it sorted. After the initial blast I decided to re-route the induction through the old trumpet (actually seems better this way) and cut out a small section to allow a little more air...

Little idle control valve filter hiding:

General photos of the car after I spent a while polishing and waxing:

Ph1 seats fitted and are much better:

I've not put the new stickers on yet since I noticed a bit of offspray down the sides of the car which need to be removed - the jobs are never ending!! Once I've got the paintwork sorted I'll post some piccys of the finished article
Photo that didn't come out:

What length are those oil cooler hoses that you used?

Did you route them under the radiator, or under the expansion tank on the side of the radiator.

Seemed like limited space where to pass them without risk of chaffage.

The oil hoses are the ones tat came with the kit. I ended up cutting about 250 - 300mm off each one to get a neat route without any kinks. The hoses are attached to the unterside of the cross brace under the radiator.
Since there was limited access on the engine side I used the 90

Thanks for all the comments Thumbs up
The wheels used to be silver but decided to see what they would look like with the gold calipers behind them. I know it would look better with the cyclones but ended up putting them on the GTI before I sold it Doh
The earthing cables used to be on the GTi also. I ended up keeping them and putting them on the Rallye as some people say they make a difference - no halm in trying though!!
