Oh and that sport spring is there to assist the pressing of the pedal and removing it usually only fixes the stuck down pedal problem.

Thanks for the reply Smile

I was inclined to think it was something cable related as the biting point would drop on the clutch when the car was in its spazz out mode.. but had a look at it all today against another fully functional 306 gti and it seems fine. We even drove each others cars and came to the conclusion its my linkages. The longer linkage on mine is adjustable, and i adjusted it to make it shorter and its defo reduced the problem.

Oh ok, Its just I can't see how linkages could affect your biting point. I know if it were mine Id lose the self adjusting cable anyway as they arent very good, Anyhow best of luck!

Yeh that was my thoughts originally until today.

the early ones had manual cables so if you were to take yours off, GSF should match one up for you. Out of interst what kind of mpg are you getting? I only came on here because theres a Rallye I know of which Im thinking of getting soon as I know what fun they used to be when I worked with them

My old 309 had a manual adjuster on the clutch cable and from memory was a similar set up except for the adjuster on the end of the cable, (effectively lengthed and shortend the cable)

Dont know if it could fit a 6 but maybe you could compare them side to side at gsf or somewere Dunno

sorry I meant to say Ive never actually swapped a gti cable, however when faults like this came along on the DTurbos, we'd replace the cable with a manual one from the earlier 306's (parts dept. sorted this bit out lol) but am not sure which model as I say, if the guys at GSF are helpful they should just match one up

OK, so replaced all linkages with the standard setup and its still f*cked - yet more money thrown at it with no solution Doh

Next move is to look at the cable - i'm going to try spacing it out and see if that makes a difference.

I'd check the pedal and remove the spring on the pedal.

OK, replaced the clutch cable with a genuine pug one as soon as got back from my ski. Still no luck Wink

Removed the spring from the peddle - again no change - just made the peddle feel really slack/gay.

Anyone Dunno

Mine is also doing this exactly as you have described My only guess so far is checking that the engine and gearbox is not twisting in the shell.

is your top engine mount to the chassis leg ok not cracked or have any play in it?

Lower mount both the large Round mount and the on on the other end of the fork?

Gearbox mount centered properly and not got play?

does you car have a Slight exhaust blow by any chance?

Umm, the top engine mount has cracked / been re-welded by former owner. I've fitted group n mounts all round and the engine is seriously solid - zero movement.

Manifold to downpipe isn't blowing.

What are your exact symptoms then matey, reasurring to know someone else is in the same boat as me (not meaning to sound selfish)?
