I think they have a Jig to do their manifolds.

could bolt the flange on the head and support the rest in place and tack it up, then weld it fully off the car?

hoping that the welding process doesn't (as it always does LOL ) pull it out of shape...

Thats the plan mate, I won't be welding any of the header tubes until the engine is back in the car, and it will all be tacked up in it's final posions. If tacked in enough places it should'nt move much but I'm sure it will try and be a pain in the arse! Wink As for jigs, yes they do, but they also want £200 more if they weld it, and I thought I'd use my credit crunch beating welding skillz to save a hefty pile of beer vouchers Smug

Tack the 2 main collectors together with a bit of strip when it's on the car, it doesn't matter if it moves slightly then, just put the collectors on before you weld it up and even if it moves a little at least you won't be trying to get 4 pipes into the right place with 2 hands LOL

It's the three month contract I have welding stainless steel heat-sinks for aircraft carriers thats got me tied up mate. By March I should have free time and a chunk of dough burning a huge hole in my pocket though so don't worry, 2011 will definitely see me driving the Pug again Wink

I had my 330mm rotors arrive from Hi-Spec today (Cheers Ash) and all I can say is how f*cking big!? Shock 330mm does'nt sound much just written down, but once in front of you on the bench they are like dinner plates!

Made a bigger windage tray at the weekend, and will do a baffle kit next as I have some pictures of a BTCC one to copy. Then I can finally get the engine together for the last time. Also I'll hopefully picking up my new Jenveys at the Autosport Show this weekend Cool

Progress at last (No pics as camera took a bath last time I went to the seaside Dry )

Think it was about £30 last time I went (trade day), bit cheaper if you're competing/have a licence.

No camera at the moment so I can't share any pics but I picked up some more tasty treats for the still very Dead Rallye. First was a Powervamp 25 dry cell racing battery and sexy drilled aluminum housing bracket for it to live in. Next was a total flip out purchase but I could'nt resist it, a Dogcam 1080HD camera unit, which seems to take great quality video, even sounds good on playback too. (Only tested it in the van though so far, migh play it back again if I have trouble sleeping one night) Got myself a Stack AFR guage with wideband Lambda sensor too.

If all goes well I'm collecting a Tran-X LSD and a VTS rack at the weekend too so things are moving along, still can't face any work on the car itself but buying bits is almost progress.

I have been offered a rear beam setup which is just what I'm after so thats next now instead of bodies (Sold the 45's as aparently they are restrictive Unsure ) I will be upgrading to 48mm taper jobbies as soon as i get paid for my latest batch of welding work. (Damn 60 day credit cycle!)

Goodies

Obviously none of these bits will be going in the Dead Wallye now as it has fallen from favour and been replaced with a rather more completed Bianca shell.

Well, my brake lines are on their way so should be able to fit these to the new car soon Cool

And now thie windage tray is nearly finished I just have to make the baffle kit (Hopefully this weekend) and the engine can be finally assembled.

Need to sort some bodies still but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now.

whats the advantage of having slits in the windage tray jim? or is it to work in conjunction with the baffle kit?

Once it is finished the slits will become louvres. The windage tray is pretty much a direct copy of the Peugeot Sport item, and fits the crankcase much more closely. this stops so much oil sloshing up the sides of the block and hitting the crank I assume. The louvres face up and into the direction the oil is thrown off the crank catching more of it and capturing it in the sump and making it stay there.

The next bit is a four way gated box that sits around the pick-up with dividers for front/aft and left/right oil control. I can't desribe it well enough for it to be understandable but will post up some pictures for people once its done. This is not how Peugeot Sport do theirs but I think the design can be bettered as it is a bit crude.

As for making another one I'll have a think about it, they are a lot of faffing about to make and the Pug Sport one is only £300 or so. By the time I have fabricated all the gates and dividers and modified the sump to fit it will be pretty expensive. If I had any sense I'd get a steel sump and make my life easier.
