My topmounts have now been drilled, tapped and installed in their correct positions, enabling me to fit my re-engineered coilovers to the car. Even with a fair ammount of compression of the springs the ride height is lower than I expected but now I've driven it I think thats how it's going to stay
Turn in is now much better and front end grip is now to the point that you dont need to lift to get oversteer, just give the wheel a bit more of a tug when cornering hard and it brings the back end into play very nicely
It will take a while to get the damper settings dialled in fully (front and rear) but I have tracktime booked in June so that should provide plenty of opportunity for experimentation. I have a feeling though that I'm going to be wanting the negative camber trailing arm setup though to help restore a little more balance as the front seems to have a little too much grip now compared to the rear. I'm currently on the 300lbs springs that came with the shocks, and I have yet to recieve the 450lbs that I was recommended to use (due to the fact I'm running the 30mm AR
however I have a feeling that the 300lbs ones will be more than up to the job as the car seems to corner flat and level already, the 450's may be that little bit too harsh.
First impressions of the Gaz kit are that is's a quality setup that will work well on road and track. I have the rolling road/Mapping session on Tuesday, then I'll be looking forward to giving the car it's first track outing since it went out as a practically standard car at Brands 18 months ago! I'm expecting it to be quite different to say the least!
