Marathon weekend of work over, gearbox out, new clutch and flywheel in, plus a new LSD from the lovely people at Quaife. New clutch cable, and the scary bit was doing the cambelt. Happy to say it's all on and no tapping or anything Smug

Started wit a big boy's brekfast to get us set for the day then we hit the car like gang bangers! Car was soon dismantled and taking up most of my forecourt!

We soon had the gearbox out, then the serious fun could start.

Thats when the diff could go in followed by the sexy lightened flywheel thats been sat on my shelf for the best part of six months! Big grin

(Think I might have to make the next one my screensaver for a bit!) Sad? Oh yes! But I don't care! Razz

Me fitting the new clutch, (twice cos i git it in p*ssed)

This is it with it all in (new crankshaft oil seal was fitted too as the flywheel was off and it was easy)

After that was done we move our attention to doing the cambelt, big thanks for the helpful soul who put up a FAQ for this, been shitting bricks for a fortnight at the thought of lunching my engine with my colossal ineptitude! But it all went according to the guide and no difficulties were had in getting the belt on and tensioned up with all the marks lining up again. (Before Chris posts to contradidct me, there was a minor sphincter losening moment when I went toi start it for the first time after the belt change and it would'nt fire. Forgot I had removed the ECU the night before as I had to leave the car half finished on the forecourt and was worried about about some twat breaking in and stealing it, obvoiusly someone had forgotten to put it back in!)Whistle

Tonight I got down to fitting my shocks, unfortunately not all the parts have arrived (I need sleeve nuts for the front coilovers to fit the top-mounts) and it turns out the top-mounts I have been sent are not the right ones for a 306 either! So I cheered myself up by relacing these scabby old shitters...

For these...

These are the fronts and the top-mounts I have to return.

Gonna have a break tomrrow evening and go home and have a beer like a 'normal' person! Big grin

what he said LOL:

you COULD have had the original ecu mapped for the throttle bodies, but its not a particularly cost effective way to do it as a remap costs about

They won't come off the old ones without wrecking them. I will get down the bike shop and get some of the neoprene jobbies they sell for protecting posh bike shocks instead.

Cheers, we were discussing that at the weekend, saying how it would probably add up to two days of labour and set me back about

To fit the queefe do you just unbolt the housing, lift the old diff out put the bearings on the LSD then drop it in place, add some silicon then bolt up or is there more to it?

Ignored my hangover this morning and decided to do a bit on the car. Removed the engine mount bracket to cut it down a little to give me some room for the dome filter back-plate and save a bit of weight into the bargain. Ninja The back-plate came as a blank so I lined it up and cut out the holes and matched them to the bodies with a die-grinder and a flap wheel. (With plenty of rag down the bodies to catch the dust)

Whilst I was at it I got a bit carried away and started cleaning and painting stuff, too many shiny painted engine bays and components in other peoples project threads are to blame for this worrying trait I seem to be developing...Dry
